I’m already a big fan of Patagonia products; however, I’m writing this review based off of the company’s (and this location’s specifically) dedication to people.
I ripped my non-Patagonia nylon puff jacket today from a random screw on a metal pole supporting a restaurant’s outdoor sitting area (watch out, people!). Instant sadness/annoyance because I love this jacket & wear it constantly in the winter. I started googling ways to fix the tear and I saw that Patagonia sells tape patches specifically for jacket/tent/sleeping bag tears, holes, etc. I went straight to the store to pick some up. Since the store is closed to browsing due to covid restrictions, I walked up to talk to one of the girls at the front table. I explained my situation with my jacket and said I was looking for the patches. Without hesitation, she said, “Oh, let me just give you one.” I was so surprised, although I probably shouldn’t have been because after all, it’s Patagonia. Another girl comes up to inspect the rip. She asked if it was a Patagonia jacket, and I said no, definitely expecting to pay for the patches. But no - the two girls didn’t think twice about giving me a little complimentary repair kit which included the patches I was looking for plus a miniature sewing kit. I even pushed to try to pay for it again and they said no, that this is what it was all about - getting people to repair their damaged, loved clothes instead of scrapping them. Working in sustainability myself, it meant so much to me to get to see firsthand how they put their money where their mouth is. Love Patagonia and love the UWS store!!
Also - my jacket looks good as new...
Read moreWhen returning home by city bus from the UES, the M79 stops right in front of Patagonia, the store. Most of the time I find it impossible not to walk into the Patagonia store right at the bus stop. I mostly just sight-see. I have been buying from Patagonia for at least as long as the store has been here and absolutely nothing has worn out.
I may have gained and lost 25 or 30 pounds on infrequent diets and following overeating. Somehow the same Patagonia garments seem to fit me pretty well regardless of which end of the fat spectrum I am dealing with. Seams don't open, fabric never seems to fray, the clothes just go on and on and the "style" never seems to go out of style.
There are thousand thousands of Patagonia style knockoffs and none of them are worth buying. I buy the original and keep it forever. I can't remember when I started the love affair, but I am in my ninetieth year of wearing clothing and it seems as if Patagonia was always in my closet or on my body. If you have only bought knock-offs in the past, you owe it to yourself to visit a Patagonia store and get started owning originals.
You will never overpay, or buy something...
Read moreI bought in my Patagonia jacket winter before last and it began have a small tear. The gentleman (I'm sorry that I didn't get his name) that helped me was extremely courteous and offered me options. When I initially purchased my jacket at Paragon Sports, the sales person told me that Patagonia was a great company and if I had any issues with my jacket they would resolve or replace it. I sort of took it as a sales pitch because their jackets are a bit on the pricey side, but none the less I liked the jacket and bought it. I'm not hard on my clothes and usually they go out of style way before I wear them out, so I wasn't really expecting to have to see if Patagonia would stand behind their products. Well I ended up having to, and found them to be absolutely of their word. They replaced my jacket and didn't make me jump though impossible hoops in order to find some way to reject warrantying my jacket. I probably will only buy Patagonia active wear jackets from now on, because not only do they make very fine gear, but more so because of their customer service.
You guys...
