I feel, after getting so many good reviews, that they seem to not care anymore. 'We' are rated in Trip Advisor, Google, etc., now we don't have to care'. I would have given another star if they cared about me finding cartilage in my food. Then would have added another two stars if the customer service was better, in my own experience.
There was two men at the front of the store. One sat me down and I was pointed to, two different places to sit. I was not greeted, they were just there, no how are you etc.
Then there was a menu brought to me along with a very tiny glass of ice water.
I ordered Sesame Chicken, with rice. Then later saw there was a small menu with soups on it, $1 for a small and $2 for a large, I choose the small. The soup had a few quite large dumplings with pork strips on the side. It was very simple, yet very good. However, I bite into a piece of cartilage, The gentleman who sat me brought the soup, I said thank you in Chinese, he didn’t say anything. As I am writing this, the people who come in are greeted, as I was not.
My food Sesame Chicken was promptly brought me to, sat down and I wasn't asked if I needed anything else. Then brought rice in a bowl, again, didn't ask if I needed anything else. Tried asking for Chop Sticks with no luck. The Food is really good, I just don't know if the lack of customer service can justify the price.
Consumed about half of my water and someone came over and poured me more, I said thank you and nothing again.
I have tried having a look of "I need something" on my face and been looked at, but nothing said. My water was filled again, this time the person left the bucket of water...
Another couple of people were brought their food, the gentleman "Here you go, here is your food". I wish I had experienced the same customer service.
Another 3 top to the back of me, when food delivered "Here we go".
At this point still cannot believe I haven't...
Read moreThere are some good dishes and some ok dishes. The fish filet with tofu was delicious as hell, a highlights of the lunch, and so was the fresh pork w. String beans(delicious, but little compared to other places), the squid salt and pepper was good, the Peking pork chops was another great dish, crispy enough and still tender and juicy, and still be able other grab some flavor of the Peking sauce. The fremented bean curds w. ong choy(water spinach) was blan(as usual). The beef w. Eggplant with spicy sauce, turned into just Eggplant with spicy sauce😤. It was ok. The garlic chicken could have been fried longer, I mean it was still soft, not crunchy at all. The pork curry with chow fun, was actually roast pork with curry tomatoes w. chow fun(was ok, it was a little sour, and curry sauce, not sweet, or not salty. It was Mediocre). It's funny some dishes wasn't even in the menu, but it's in most restaurants. Since this is a café catering more to tourists, and English people. It was surprising some dishes turned out spectacularly.
The service was ok, the atmosphere couldn't really tell much since we were seated near the stair, so tightly packed and when I turned my head to see my surroundings, my head knocked into the board of the stairs.
Also the stair to the bathroom was really too close to the wall could hardly use it as a handle for the stairs. The bathroom stall and pretty tight any body over 254 lbs might be in trouble trying to use the toilet. It was a very tight space. The toilets paper was 3 ply.
For the special day soft shell crabs $19.95, and...
Read moreI would not wish anyone to come here. Even though the food was amazing (snails, lobster, eggplant, snow pea leaves), they are scammers. My husband speaks English and Chinese. He ordered the food in Chinese and it was very clear he ordered 1 of each dish. The lobster was $30. It was probably one of the best lobsters I’ve ever eaten because they made it Cantonese style With the ground beef and egg on top of it. But when the food came out, there were 2 lobsters. The total for 5 dishes was $177. They take cash only. I was very upset that they snuck in an extra lobster and made us pay for 2 when we clearly ordered 1 lobster for 2 adults and 3 kids. I told my husband since they made us pay for an extra lobster that we didn’t order, that would be their tip. But he still gave them another $13 making the total $190. The waiter had the balls to count the money at the table in front of us. And then 5 minutes later another rude waiter came and told us we owe them another $10 for tip that it wasn’t enough. Don’t come here. They upcharge the food when they smell tourists and sneak in extra dishes to make you pay for more. I’m Cantonese and it’s embarrassing to know these people are Cantonese as well. They should know to get business they should provide good customer service and had given us the lobster for free when I pointed out they made the mistake of giving us 2. But they rather cut off their noses in spite of their face. Stay away...
