Very nice library. There are multiple levels. There are quite a few sections for Chinese books that are only written in Chinese. In the basement there are 8 computers with access to internet. Its usually very quiet down here. Also in the lower level, there are water fountains and a wheelchair accessible bathroom. This library also has an elevator for anyone who aren't able to use the stairs. There's also printers hooked up to the computers, which I believe it costs 10 cents to print one page. There's also a copy machine on the main level. The staff here are very welcoming and also very helpful. On the main level, there are two express computers and 4 regular internet access computers. There's also a computer strictly for searching in the catalog for books, etc. It will show you if what you are searching for is in the library, and where in the library you can locate it. It also shows other related literature that maybe located at other libraries. This library also provides other services, such as English classes, etc. The staff updates their calendar to show when certain events/classes are available. In my opinion, Chatham Square Library is one of my favorite libraries. The library is usually very quiet and also neat and well kept. They also provide a few different "classes". And on Saturday afternoons, the library hosts Chess for kids. I really admire what they are contributing to the community. This is why I really adore...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI walked into the library thinking itād be a quick and easy visit. I had a few simple questions, nothing complicated. But the elderly Asian librarian? Not in the mood. No patience, no warmth, definitely not from the Chinatown community (because she knew nothing), and clearly not interested in learning about it either.
Every time I asked something, she cut me off with: āPlease email my manager.ā Over and over, like a broken record. Then she slowly turned her chair, gave me her half-back, and just pouted at somewhere like Iād ruined her whole morning.
Thankfully, a kind young Asian woman saw the whole thing and came over to help. She couldnāt fix everything, but she genuinely tried. She explained what she could, offered alternatives, and made me feel like I wasnāt totally alone in the building. Things didnāt get fully resolved, but in that moment, I felt a...

This NYC Public Liberty located on East Broadway, Chinatown, New York City is a wonderful public library.
The building itself is a building from the era of the yesteryears. Nice solid building, build to last and withstand the elements of Mother Nature.
The inside is absolutely fabulous, done in wood and soft color paint. Nice wooden tables and chairs.
The overhead lights are what is so wonderful about this particular branch. None of the fluorescent overhead light fixtures, no pale energy saving bulbs.
They have place soft yellow bulbs in all the overhead lamps, the fixtures are a round globe glass cover. The lights are so soothing on the eyes.
Definitely a 5 star rating for this NYC Public Library Chinatown branch.
And the branch is...
