I’ve been ordering food from here for years and have dined in a few times. This is a family owned business and the food is AMAZING! It’s typically consistent and delicious. I’d definitely recommend. However, I have one major complaint and that is one of their delivery guys. I usually have a good experience will all the others but the one I had tonight is always difficult. He always rounds up instead of telling me the exact amount (mind you I am not a cheap tipper). I just hate that it feels like he’s trying to be slick. Tonight, I realized he took an extra dollar from me after I gave him an already very generous tip due to the bad weather outside. He was visibly frustrated when I asked for the receipt (which is rightfully mine to see to ensure I am being charged the correct amount). I did not appreciate his poor attitude. I understand it’s bad weather but I tried my best to tip accordingly and I do not think his poor attitude was warranted. Also, this is not my first encounter with him but this was the worst. Maybe he’s having a bad day but I think the owner/manager needs to understand that the delivery guys are a representation of your business. I will still order because I love the food but this poor interaction will make me think twice before I do. My humble suggestion is talking to your workers about customer service because good customer service goes a very long way. It’s not just about good food. However, the food is amazing if you’re willing to deal with a not so happy...
Read moreAfter growing up in California, I’ve lived in New York for 17 years. In that time I’ve looked for good Mexican food all over New York, yet not until last night, when we went to Xochimilco Family Restaurant did I discover throughly great, California worthy, Mexican food.
Let’s start with the guacamole. I asked for the guacamole to be spicy, really spicy. And boy did they deliver! Perfect blend of creamy and chunky, spicy guacamole was quickly served with awesome chips on the side.
Paired with a great glass of Horchata and I was in heaven. But this review doesn’t stop there. We also ordered Nachos con Pollo and bistec tacos. A mounding plate of nachos arrived, topped with toppings throughout. Similarly, the bistec tacos were generously filled on double corn tortillas, topped with onions and cilantro. Two salsas are brought to your table. I only had a chance to use the red one, well spiced but not so much to overwhelm the food. Very clearly they use fresh, quality ingredients.
I had eaten so much by this point I wanted to say no to dessert, but decided to go for it. Unfortunately they were out of flan, and fortunately they were out of flan, because I tried a dessert, new to me, Tres Leches. One bite in I had a new favorite and was suddenly hungry again.
My thanks to the kind and courteous staff. Loved the warm family atmosphere and will be bringing friends and family back often.
Conveniently, a four minute walk from the 2...
Read moreHad a very sad and bizarre experience here last winter after work. Service was deliberately slow, no refills, couldn't tell why until noticed that literally every table had chips and salsa except mine. Thought I was crazy, so I asked my server, she said I had to pay. I asked how much(I'd checked the menu 3x, wasn't on it), she hesitated, threw out a rough estimate, then walked away. my stomach felt funny but I paid my tab + tip, asked one of the last patrons on my way out how much he paid for his chips & salsa. He laughed and said he didn't; they were free. I felt foolish. I walked up to the bar where the other servers were bussing & carried my tab/tip to my server(had been waiting ages for her to return), and said in the future, she should treat each customer the same. She just lowered her eyes and nodded her head. It felt horrible & humiliating to be singled out in this way, as the only Black patron there that night, tho I can't be sure if that was why. Will never know b/c I haven't returned. Unfortunate b/c the mole...
