Once upon a time I was unable to find decent Chinese food in East Harlem. I tried most from 125th to 96th from 1st to 5th Ave trying nothing but Sesame chicken. It was a brutal trip not soon forgotten. Yummy City not only has the best Sesame chicken,(in East Harlem) the service from the young gentleman at the window is flawless. Got a special order, no problem. Want to alter your order, no problem. He just tells you how much it's gonna be with a smile and no attitude. I usually get my Sesame chicken fried soft with no rice extra broccoli and a dollar extra chicken. His reply is always flawless, with a great attitude to match his positive stance always displayed to everyone's delight while ordering and picking up their food. This is almost unheard of when it comes to Chinese restaurants in Harlem. It seems that most Chinese restaurants do not like black people from America.
The food is always fresh and cooked the way you ordered. They lost a star because they're not open consistently. I imagine that they probably don't open until they can properlyserve their food.. so it cool because the food and service is great. I would recommend trying this spot because in this hustle and bustle city, they deserve the business. "Good job young man.." is what I usually say when I leave the establishment. Yummy...

In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Yummy City's famous motto: 'Chinese food is not hard to make.' But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at Yummy City, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest Chinese food cook in UES. I will be returning to Yummy City soon,...
Read moreThe food is consistent, tasty and well prepared. My go to’s are sautéed string beans , chicken with delicious chunks of eggplant & pork fried rice (not at all greasy with chunks of meat) fresh crunchy egg rolls (again never greasy). The owner is really friendly and always upbeat, albeit very busy, with reason. There is NOTHING half as good on the upper east side. My order always arrives hot and quickly, I live about ten blocks away. Unfortunately they can’t take credit cards on takeout yet. I regrettably ordered somewhere else bc I had no cash on hand, and the greasy fried rice was tasteless , over cooked and literally black with soy sauce- disgusting ! I really missed my yummy...
