I have been coming here for years, mostly in the mornings for coffee, and I avoid coming here at night time because the owner is extremely unprofessional.
As of today, I will no longer get coffee here because every employee charges my same order differently, varying from $5-7 depending on the person.
Go next door to Bushwick Public House where prices are consistent.
Let's discuss 2 of their employees:
The owner: I placed an order here about a year ago online and waited 40 minutes to pick it up, per what the app said. I show up and the owner explains he gave my food to someone else. I said I'll wait. He said he's losing money on remaking my order, and I explained that he made the mistake, so I don't understand why he's angry with me. My response caused him to lunge himself at me physically, and then he refused to remake my order OR refund me after he blamed me for his mistake. I decided to never come here at night time again.
There is a man employee that works during lunch hours, who last week was yelling at another employee at the register while others were waiting in line. He told the customers to wait while he continued to berate his coworker for making a mistake. This employee charged me $6.50 today for an order that is normally $5, and I said he can keep it, so I can go somewhere else.
The employees here and their business practices are very shady. The men employees at this establishment are angry, bordering abusive to customers and staff, so please stop...
Read moreI recently told someone that if I were to visit Zatar a million times, my favorite visit would still be on visit one million and one. From the first bite to my most recent, Zatar is still one of my most favorite restaurants and I still dream of their merguez melt whenever the weekend rolls around.
Every item here is worth trying and whether you're here for lunch, dinner, brunch, coffee, dessert, you're leaving here satisfied. The kebabs, dips, and other mezze give you the authenticity of standard Middle Eastern fare while the flatbreads, sandwiches, and brunch items bring things forward. I've always enjoyed the kebabs with the beef being my favorite but the chicken shawarama is also stellar and consistent, but I keep going back for the merguez melt: I can't shake my cravings for the savory goodness of the merguez sausages on a perfectly flaky croissant with melty Swiss cheese tying things together blissfully.
The service here is solid considering they get very busy with take out/delivery orders and patience should be key as the folks here bust their tails manning the counter, bussing tables, making coffee, and wearing several hats at once; if time is an issue, I would suggest ordering ahead. Whatever you're craving and whatever the occasion, Zatar is definitely...
Read morerecently ordered from this restaurant and was completely disappointed. For backstory I recently had a stroke about a year ago and I’ve been in a nursing home since then for recovery. It’s in East New York and the food year is terrible. On top of that all the fast food immediately in the area is equally as terrible. I’ve had no luck with ordering out short at McDonald’s. I was in a taste for falafel so I decided to order from here the reviews seem decent so I Figured I would give it a shot. Big mistake.
I wanted the falafel dinner and one Yemen kebab on the side what I got was four different from any falafel or lamb I’ve ever eaten. The falafel balls were dried and hard, and I could tell they had either been refried or was sitting out for a long time. They were definitely not made fresh. The Yemeni Kebab was also dry and I could tell I’ve been sitting out for a while. Both were completely unappetizing. The only good thing was the rice they came with that was it.
This entire meal was a complete disappointment if I had to say something nice the only thing I can comment on was that the packaging is very well done and is actually beautiful outside of that. This food is horrible. Definitely will not be...
