I did not know what to expect other than good food for the 4.8 rating. It is a family style restaurant with a small grocery area and ice cream parlor area not your typical restaurant in that respect.I ordered 2 chicken tacos and a carne asada taco and fresh made juice (you choose up to 5 fruits/vegetables listed like red apple, pear, kale, spinach etc for $5) When the taco arrived I expected them to average size but they were small and half the size of regular tortilla tacos). The chicken was slightly dry and carne asada were somewhat dried out and salty. The fresh juice was okay. I ordered the Dulce tres cake for dessert and that it was not as fresh as I wanted it to be but they decorated the plate rather nice though..
When it came to pay, I was charged $6 plus additional $1 for ordering red apple and pear for my juice. Apparently they never changed their price from $5 to $6 and as for additional $1, I refused to pay because it was never indicated ANYWHERE about additional fruits costing more.
Food was okay..juice was okay and okay doesn’t make me want to come back. Spent $32 and I EASILY could have gone to nicer establishment and enjoyed better food and upfront pricing….oh well you win some and...
Read moreThe staff is so friendly and treat you like you're a part of their family. The owners are so kind and really take pride in the business and their food quality. I have eaten here since their day one and have never had anything that wasn't delicious. It's hard to pick a fave but their enchiladas suizas is the best I've had in NYC. Get a weekend special like pozole or menudo. So delicious and comforing.! And their birria combo is still the best in the neighborhood and still my favorite in NYC. If you want some serious protein to share, or not, get the molcajete! You will not be disappointed! Cocktails are wine based and I always get the maracuya margarita. If I am wanting a dessert I almost always get a paleta to take with me to go. Go here. It is hands down the best in Bushwick and any of the...
Read moreI wanted to update my previous review. This is the most frustrating restaurant! I love it and I hate it. This place has some of the best tacos in Brooklyn! Reminds me of great Mexican food I had when I lived in California. My wife and I also get their paletas every week! They are so yummy. On the other hand I got the laziest huevos rancheros I have ever eaten. Two eggs, two tortillas, and a very small pile of eggs. I would be better off going to the Bodega. Do not get breakfast here. The service has gotten slight better, but still can be very slow.
Original Review: The service is always super slow and they're very unresponsive when I try to call in. If I want to get takeout I end up having to wait for 30 minutes for my food half the time. I live two blocks away this...
