Operation: Falafel was a great lunch experience. Usually, when I go to the city with my service dog and I know I am going to get lunch it is always a process. Depending on where I'm going in the city often means that I have to find a wheelchair accessible location with friendly service providers. This place totally hit those marks. The location is fully wheelchair accessible! There are a variety of different table options but most of the tables could easily accommodate one or more than one wheelchair or scooter.
The manager whom I had approached on my way in about having someone assist me with ordering and paying for the food, he had Kiki help me out. She was great! You know, how sometimes a person with a disability goes into a business or restaurant and you can tell that they really do not want to be there, or even want to help you?
That is not KiKi! She was authentic and really walked me through the menu as I had never been here before. she brought the food to the table, help me unpack it and even assisted with grabbing the fork so I can reach the food. Also, she said she would come back and check if everything was okay and she did. Not the usual service for NYC. Not because they're all rude but because it is a busy hectic environment. Kudos to Kiki! If her employers are smart they'll give her raise and make Her a manager. This world needs more authenticity and caring.
So what did I order?
I had the falafel salad which was awesome! I often go to Mamoun's falafel this was definitely competitive, and offered more food in terms of portions. Everything was green and fresh. I ginger ale was good to. Really nothing bad to say about this place. If you're in the city head on over to 7th Avenue and pick up some delicious food from...
Read moreI ate their Loaded Fries Shawarma Chicken and garlic sauce, which was decidedly yummy. My goodness! The depth of the taste was phenomenal. Their spices are subtle, but memorable. I chose their garlic sauce and my friend chose the Tahini sauce on her beef Shawarma. The food is plentiful here. It was enough for me to be able to take some home. I was too hungry for that the first time, to do that. I've went back yesterday with the same friend. The fun part is that they give points that you can use for each purchase, which I had missed seeing before, but my friend had not. I signed up on the spot and received 50 points the equivalent of $5.00 off my meal. Stupendous! For my second visit, I had the Beef Sharwarma and my friend had a wrap. I was expecting shredded beef, but it was ground. Again, the spices added depth, but there was also perhaps a bit of greasiness from the ground beef. Although pretty, there was an almost overwhelming amount of chopped tomatoes on top, plus the requisite pickles. I opted out of the red onions, again since I have an onion sensitivity. That might cut the slight greasy taste bringing up the rear. I did not finish it, abs decided to take it home. Don't get me wrong it was still quite good, moist, ...yet still a little greasy. I will, return. The food options, taste, and the bonus points, all make it...
Read moreTwo Stars because it was clean & the fragrance in the bathroom, otherwise - major, major disappointment! Didn’t expect Dubai-Jumeriah, UAE quality, but for a Manhattan location, it should have been legit. Guy who took my order was so monotone, I got the vibe that he wasn’t happy about his job or the brand. Other noticeable feature was the lack of kebab aromas! Humus portion was small, bland & expensive. The Chicken Shawarma had absolutely no flavor & literally had the texture of dried, shredded tree shavings (mulch). Kofta - texture was okay, but negative (No Flavor whatsoever) flavor. The Pita Sandwich was also BLAH, just the tasteless humus, simple cabbage and other tasteless fillers. The Loaded Fries with Sujuk: trash. It was Cheese Whiz & Cheap Beef Nachos Toppings over Fries.
Basic drinks…Pita Fusion is better than this lol & that’s not good. We went way out of our way to go here & thank Almighty God we didn’t pay for parking, that would have compounded the disappointment. I’m declassifying this location as...
