I love this place! The food here is exceptionally tasty. I think they have the most decadent vegan lasagna and mac&cheez items I've ever had. The drummies and ribs are both excellent. I haven't even tried their variety of hot sandwiches yet, but they look amazing. Desserts are all excellent. Most of Dodah's menu is not health food, per se, although there are some whole food options, too. The servings are huge -- a 1-entree + 2-sides platter is enough for two meals for most people. The service behind the counter is always great. It would be helpful and boost curb appeal to have a large menu board and a few outdoor tables. Virtually all of the negative reviews I see are due to the reliability of their hours and of their delivery service. I have run into that too, as I have visited about a dozen times in their first few months. I don't know why customers feel it's appropriate to ding a new restaurant's ratings while it's still getting up to speed, especially when managed from out of state trying to expand here to Delaware. But simply call or message first to make sure it's open or that delivery service is active. I love that Dodah's has come to Newark, and look forward to more people finding out how great it is!

Tried this place after a hike in Newark, DE. It’s a small place that is really cute inside. There didn’t seem to be many gluten free options on the menu and I couldn’t confirm due to a language barrier with the worker. I ordered the general Tso’s cauliflower, mushroom salad, quinoa, sweet love tea and sweet potato cheesecake. You get a lot of food, enough for a second meal. The texture of the cauliflower was a bit too soft for me on day 1. I put it in the oven the next day and it was better. I had never had mushroom salad before and this had great flavor. The quinoa was also the best I have ever tasted. Not sure what they make it with, but it is flavorful. The cheesecake was ok. I would probably try a different flavor next time. Admittedly I’m not usually a sweet tea drinker, so it was too sweet for me. I should have probably gotten the other version, which I will try next time. If and when I’m in DE or MD I would give this place another shot.

Let me tell you!!! This new vegan soul spot is sooooo good! I knew the food was going to be great as soon as I walked into the restaurant! I could smell the deliciousness! Loved the plant vibes when I walked in as well!🌿 Everything is made fresh! I’m not vegan… and this is making me reconsider my life decisions. Haha 🥰 I am so pleased with the flavors as well as the service. Edwin had such a pleasant personality and was very helpful in getting my food to me in a swift manner, considering I only have a 30 minute break from work! I got the crab cake platter and the green fried plantains. 🤤🤤 Definitely will be returning!! You should definitely give them a try even if you’re not vegan! 🧡🧡

I wish I had a better experience here as I've been enjoying Dodah's packaged lasagna, cakes, etc. for years at other establishments. It was my first time to eat their food fresh and I was stoked. The food itself ranged from decent to excellent -- however, there were so many things missing or incorrect with my order, and the person at the front (the only worker at the restaurant) spoke very little English and was mostly trying to communicate to us in another language. I had ordered meals and sides for 2 people, and what I received was missing probably $15-20 of food without including the things incorrect/substituted. One missing item was explained to me at pickup but I don't know if I will see actual refunds through DoorDash or what to expect at all. When I got in my car and realized how much was wrong, I chose to drop it and avoid another uncomfortable attempt at communicating with someone who is just going to talk at me in another language. I hope that Dodah's is able to fix their service issues as I see reflected in other reviews, since the food was mostly enjoyable as it...
