Edit/update: After coming in and speaking with the manager, I really appreciate that he listened to me and addressed my concerns. While I still think that an up charge for a sugar cone is ridiculous, it means a lot to me that I felt that I was heard. I don’t go out for ice cream much but I’d go back there. I did take it upon myself to go to a local grocery store and compare the prices of cake cones to sugar cones in the same brand and there wasn’t much in the way of a difference, but, I like the atmosphere and I like the quality of the product and I’d be back. I like to support “this small guy” meaning small and local.
Original review: An up charge of anything for a sugar cone is ridiculous. I’ve never seen such a thing and I’ve traveled all over the country and into several others recently and bought ice cream within the last month.. Their prices are really high compared to other ice cream places in Columbus or Newark. I left a message to have the manager call me and the girl working there said I’d have to put my email address in and I said no I’m not doing that, and expect a tip on top of the charges they have is ridiculous. It’s that they shouldn’t be charging fair prices. It’s not a fair. But even after I made my feelings known, they were skimpy on my two scoop ice cream and then when I walked out the door part of my ice cream spilled so I went back for them to fix it. They just they obviously didn’t like my attitude, but they could’ve done something to me. The girl said have a better day, but the thing is I had a really great day until I got to the ice cream shop and I was like you gotta be freaking joking . I told them I said this is supposed to be good experience but man they’ve priced themselves right out of Newark I think, and I don’t think I’ll be back. There are other choices. The people were initially friendly, but they were only friendly if I was giving them good feedback and they skimpy. It was expensive. It’s just not upscale enough to be charging that much. The ice cream itself was very good , the experience was not. The place is clean and...
Read moreIce cream? Amazing Staff? Amazing
I came in tonight with my wife after two kids ran in front of my car on the Square and nearly got it. When we came inside the two kids who ran in front of my car were waiting just in front of us in line. They kept staring and laughing at us because they recognized us and so there was a scene.
To help ease the tension after the scene ended, I offered to buy the kids ice cream and they accepted.
One of the kids then continued to be an issue inside Drip Dreams. Making noise, being disruptive, and arguing with the staff. The one that was doing these things ended up refusing to take what he had ordered due to a disagreement with the owner. The owner then refunded my money as I had paid for the drink and handed me a coupon for my next visit as well. I apologized to him for the issue that these two children had been and had explained how I had come across them,
In all, this place is amazing and the people are...
Read moreWe went for the first time tonight. The atmosphere was really fun and the staff was friendly (even though she mentioned she was working without any help). The milkshakes honestly didn't seem worth the steep price, it wasn't really anything special especially as a $12 milkshake. My husband and son both enjoyed theirs though (my son got a kiddie cup with sprinkles and my husband got the Coops cookie sandwich). Kind of cool for a special occasion but not something we could afford to frequent as it came to $22 for the 3 of us.
Edited to add: the milkshake I got was the Sloopy Special. I was disappointed because it seemed like a normal milkshake with whipped cream, Reese cup sprinkles over the top and then a buckeye and a chocolate straw thing. I'm sure the milkshakes on the normal menu are much more affordable but the $6-7 upcharge for a buckeye on top...
