River Road Coffeehouse - On the Square — Restaurant in Ohio

Update: still a regular 4+ years later and though there’s all new staff from when I began my time here it’s still a great place to grab coffee with exceptional service. I highly recommend and hope they continue to be a staple in our downtown revival!

I love River Road coffee. I get the same thing usually everyday (sometimes twice a day) and the product is always very good. The staff is generally chatty and polite (Zoe is always very pleasant) and the location/atmosphere is inviting. My only issue with the store is the inconsistency with the amount of coffee that you receive. I use a tiny bit of cream and nothing else but sometimes (like today) I get a large drip coffee that is roughly 2/3 of the way full. This happens occasionally and after tip that would be $3.50 for a large coffee that is not nearly full.

Hopefully that will be looked at and they continue to be a wonderful addition...

The woman at the counter was not friendly, didn't even greet me or ask what I wanted to order, just looked at me and gave me the 'nod' to proceed with my order. She had a flat affect and seemed irritated that I was even ordering at all. And who offers chicken salad but doesn't give you a non-grain option to eat it with and charges you $6 for it? Because I couldn't eat it on a croissant, I had to eat it out of a cup. And I'm visiting from out of town looking with my boyfriend for our future hometown and coffee shops are usually very telling for me about the community and serve as a go-to meeting place with friends or to work on a project. I would not return here. And because I was wearing booties and they have wood floors, my shoes were louder than rubbery sneakers. I got lots of annoyed looks from patrons there. I wanted to take the time comment on my coffee experience at River Road downtown. The staff is very friendly and courteous. I don’t get a very fancy coffee, just a latte with whole milk and they do a great job every time, day after day! I stop by several times a week and I am never disappointed.

2018 Addition: River Road Coffee has great coffee and service. In addition they have great community spirit. They have been a sponsor of the Licking County River Roundup for several years.
