Short version: Stumptown Taps is one of my favorite places. If you like beer and cider (plus a few NA options) along with consistent good vibes, Stumptown is the place youâre looking for.
The rambling, self-centered indulgent version: Whether this speaks to my anxiety, personal perfectionism, or just low-key âstill waters run deepâ delusions, Iâve been worrying over this review for the better part of a calendar year. When something strikes a deep, sincere chord with me, I want people to know asap. I tell the people in my life, likeminded coworkers and customers, and the occasional patient stranger who looks like they âget itâ. (God, that last one feels super weird⊠but smdh, it has happened.)
However, additionally, ipso facto, I want to make sure Iâm representing the [insert awesome thing here] without hyperbole. âŠbut thatâs all subjective anyway. So, when I say, âthis is one of my favorite places,â allow me to tell you why:
The first time I visited Stumptown, somewhen in January â24, the owner, Graham, greeted me warmly and served me excellent beer.
The second time, Graham recognized me from my previous visit and, again, served me great beer.
The third time, Graham greeted me by name and served me great beer, proving himself to be an excellent and consistent taphouse owner and bartender.
Want some honest hyperbole? This place is my Cheers. Itâs my Bronze, my Winchester, my MacLarenâs, my 10 Forward, my Paddyâs.
âŠokay, not really that last one. But Graham will likely pick up on your Itâs Always Sunny references. (This is classic Graham.)
Seriously though, Stumptown Taps is a warm, inviting space which features a 21-tap selection and welcomes outside food. Want to enjoy your favorite sushi with a Japanese lager? Want to sip a West Coast IPA while eating a piece of your Aunt Sallyâs quiche?
A baby pint of dark stout with a Quarter Pounder?
A 20oz of Tap #20âs CBD water with your latest page-turner? (Pro-tip: ask for a Barbara Walters. Itâs a 20/20.)
Didnât bring something with you? Have something delivered.
Want some snacks? Graham has pretzels, peanuts, and popcorn.
Sports fan? Regular Timbers and Thorns watch parties are on the schedule, with dĂ©cor that highlights Stumptownâs local allegiances.
Are you a trivia master or a Bingo baller? Tuesdays and Wednesdays are, respectively, your nights to shine. (Just make sure you grab a drink or two for a chance at raffle-prize glory!)
Plus, over the past year, Graham has assembled an excellent team of Stumptown Avengers, all of whom are wonderful, helpful, and just generally lovely people.
Stumptown is a great place to drink carefully curated libations, enjoy friendly conversation, and feel good about spending some time in a comfortable, personable, independent business.
Truly, in our little âBerg, Stumptown Taps is more than a business: itâs an extension of home.

Read moreWonderful tap room and great addition for the Newberg area! Went last month and they have many great options of things to drink and a variety or beer and ciders, I loved the ciders and sour beers especially! Had a fun time playing their trivia and loved the variety of food options they have from neighboring businesses nearby. We tried out the Mexican place next door and Panda express and both were great! The salsa at the Mexican spot is hottt but good! Graham was very attentive to our needs at the bar and I will definitely have to come back for another trivia night or evening of brews! Also they have an ample amount of parking for this shopping center, we didn't have any issues parking and got there just before trivia started. Although would recommend that someone on your team gets there early to reserve a table as they all can fill up fast depending on the trivia theme. Our friend got there just about 6ish and it was nearly full for holiday movie trivia at...
Read moreAn excellent taphouse whether you are looking for a low key place to meet up with friends, or looking for a spot to go solo and enjoy a delicious cold beverage. The ever changing selection of beers and ciders ensures you have something new to try each time you're in. I appreciate that it's a unique tap list with options you can't just buy at the store. It has a great feel too, like our own little Cheers bar where everyone knows your name. Graham, the owner, is always so welcoming and keeps creative events on the calendar.... weekly themed trivia and bingo, and other fun things mixed in throughout the month. The fact that you can bring in outside food is kind of great too, and a couple of the neighboring restaurants will...
