I don’t usually write reviews, but what happened tonight from start to finish unfortunately warrants one so let’s start at the beginning… I call and ask to place a take out order super simple a large caesar salad and a side of fries, I also ask for extra dressing for the salad & no croutons. About 3 minutes later I call back and ask if they can chop my salad because I always do it at home & it would just be easier for them to do it. The woman on the phone first says, “you want the fries chopped up and put in your salad” I said no, can you please just chop up the lettuce. She proceeds to talk to me like I’m stupid and says it already comes that way and I just say okay because I’m batting 0-2. When I get to the restaurant I walk in & there is one woman who is waiting for her food & a guy walking out so I walk up to the counter & tell the guy my name. He grabs my bag & I hand him a $20 & ask if he can grab me honey dijon, he says yes, but then proceeds to help the 3 DoorDashers who come in after me. My problem isn’t that I had to wait for him to go to the back, my problem is that he opened & closed the drawer twice when no money is changing hands between him and the DoorDashers and doesn’t give me my change. While this is happening I check the bag and there isn’t any extra dressing so I also ask him to grab that with the honey dijon when he goes back. He says okay & do you need anything else and I say yes, my change. In person I gave him the benefit of the doubt just to be nice but I don’t think he had an intention of giving it to me because he had taken loose change (coins) out of the drawer and put it in the little tip bucket while he was dealing with the DoorDashers; so the only person he’s actually taken cash from was me. I don’t know what he was doing or if he was going to take the bills later, but it seemed really strange to take coins out of the drawer and put it in the tip bucket while conveniently not giving me my change, repeatedly opening and closing the drawer, crumbling up receipts, & also seemed odd to deal with all the DoorDash people who came in after me before finishing our transaction. (Not grabbing the stuff in the back, but before the payment was complete.) I hope I’m wrong, but it just seemed so odd. So he grabs the stuff, I get in the car & drive home, upon getting home I open my salad & there’s croutons so not only did they not put in the extra dressing like I originally asked when I ordered but they also didn’t put in no croutons. Not the end of the world they’re easy to pick out, but the whole thing was just very strange and it sucks because I love Wood n’ Tap and eat there often; in fact this is the second time this week. I just think I’ll be going to the Wethersfield location from now on because even though it’s farther from my house I’ve almost never had a...
Read moreWood N Tap is a great place. The wife and I have been to several locations many times and it is certainly one of our go-to restaurants. It is a casual atmosphere with good drinks and an extensive menu offering many great food options. The menu changes seasonally, but there are certain items that remain... One of them being the Monster Nachos. They are delightful and even the half (small) order is huge and can be a meal in itself. There are lots of dining options; inside there is a bar and a ding area, but there is also outdoor dining which we enjoy when the weather is nice. I can't say enough good things about this place... Friendly, helpful staff, good drinks. Update (6/19/2020) - Went here tonight for the first time in a while and as usual, the food and the staff were awesome. I ordered a classic burger without the mustard & mayo, but the kitchen made a mistake. Well, my server/waiter (Jake) was extremely apologetic as was the manager (Paul). They took it back and it was remade to order. They too good care of me and as usual, I left here happily. I look forward to my next visit here... I gotta get the Monster Nachos! Update 2023; We continue to keep Wood N Tap heavy in the rotation, although we do switch up which location we go to, Newington seems to be the quickest to get to, so the one we frequent the most. The wait staff works hard and the food is usually good... The only dish I have been disappointed with is the Fried Clam strips - they have much better...
Read moreA few weeks ago my husband and I went to this Location in Newington. Although service was slow, we really enjoyed the Steamers. Some of the best we have ever had. YUM!. We returned today to have them again. We were promptly greeted in front of the entrance by the hostess who asked if we preferred Indoor or Outdoor seating. We said Indoors. She showed us to a booth and the section had no other customers in the area. Great for distancing. After approx 10 minutes, we asked the hostess for menus since we had not seen a waiter. She brought us the menus and we asked for Water and an Ice tea which she brought us. Another 10 minutes goes by and a waiter approaches our table and asks if we want anything to drink. We both looked at the drinks already on the table. My husband asked if they have Steamers because it wasn't on the menu. The waiter said that he would bring us "the other menu" which he promptly did before disappearing. After another 20 minutes, we decided to leave. Keep in mind, that we have been there for 40 minutes and have yet to place our order. As we are leaving, another staff member thanks us and said have a good evening. When we exit, we see our absent waiter being attentive to outdoor diners. Again, on a previous visit, we really enjoyed the Steamers. Today's experience was...
