The day the Newnan location opened I reviewed it mentioning that there were no salt and pepper shakers or packets for customers. It blows my mind that this is still a problem today… YEARS later. How hard is this to fix?
You don’t always need more seasoning but the inconsistently seasoned meat proves it needs to be there… at least salt. There’s little worse than an awesome Chipotle burrito that you can barely taste because a particular batch of chicken isn’t salted enough and there is none available. Stings even worse when you think about the price.
At first I thought it was a simple oversight for a new location that forgot to order salt and pepper shakers for their grand opening… but it continued to be like that for months until my brother officially complained. Even then, they only added a single set of salt and pepper shakers for the entire dining area. That’s certainly better than nothing but it doesn’t help with take-out and the single salt shaker inevitably ends up at someone else’s occupied table. You have to wonder why they didn’t order a few more like other Chipotle locations.
It has now been years and I’ve run into those predictable problems several times. When that happens they’d typically give me kitchen salt in a cup, which I appreciate. Still, how hard would it be to simply fix the problem for good by buying a few more salt shakers or putting packets at the condiment bar?
How can such a simple and cheap problem to fix persist after three years? I’m tempted to buy them a box of packets and a couple extra shakers myself the next time I’m at Restaurant Depot. It really is getting ridiculous. Shame on them.
Last night, it came to a head when I walked over an hour to get there only to find that they were out of fajita veggies, out of cheese, and the single salt shaker they usually had was totally missing (not at any table or the condiment bar). If these were supply chain issues, I’d understand, …but it was just because they were closing within the hour (still had the better part).
No biggie… right? I just got beans instead of veggies, lettuce instead of cheese, and asked for salt from the kitchen… only to be told “no.” The guy trying to get me salt was sent back empty-handed after someone back there told him “no.” I wasn’t willing to accept that without a good explanation because I’d already made enough compromises, came way too far, and paid way too much for a burrito I wasn’t even going to enjoy.
I insisted that they’ve given me kitchen salt before and demanded to know why they couldn’t accommodate my simple request again. They told me they threw the salt away, which made no sense unless they were talking about the missing salt shaker. I clarified that I was asking for a pinch from their kitchen but they still said they could not give me salt.
I knew they still had kitchen salt for the next batch of chicken. I told them that I wasn’t willing to accept that and I didn’t appreciate being lied to so another employee darted to the back for salt. Just in time too: I didn’t get a receipt but I was about to insist on a refund if I couldn’t get salt.
I overheard the first guy explaining to the second that he was told “no” when he tried to get me salt, so it wasn’t their fault. That would be the fault of whoever made that call from the kitchen. Whether that’s a manager or not, the entire years-long situation is from unresponsive management failing to meet the most basic of expectations for a restaurant.
I wish I had the opportunity to speak with whoever refused my request (probably a manager) so that we could address this bizarre shortcoming with his particular restaurant once and for all. I shouldn’t have to since I personally know several people who have complained about the same thing over the years. It’s truly ridiculous that it wasn’t fixed long ago.
This isn’t a “Michael Bloomberg banning NYC table salt” situation here, and even then you can still ask for it. Even if the fix were not embarrassingly cheap and easy, it’s literally a restaurant industry standard. Get with...
Read moreJust ordered for the first time at the Newnan location. Food was 45 minutes later than the delivery time was stated. Food was ice cold. We were missing several things off of our order. We were missing 3 tacos, a drink and sides. I almost think the delivery driver ate it herself before she brought the rest. I don't think their own people deliver. It looks like it's a 3rd party delivery service that the website doesn't say anything about when ordering online. It might be better if you go there but I would never order delivery from them again. When we called to get it straightened out, the phone was never answered and just went to a recording asking for a secure pin. We tried multiple times to call them with the same result every time. I guess it thought we wanted to check messages on the answering machine. It will be hard to give them my business going forward and I was very excited about delivery tacos. Never order for delivery.
Update. My wife drove down to the restaurant to get a refund since they wouldn't answer the phone. We were informed that they use Door Dash as the delivery service but they are trying to get their own drivers. The people working there were super nice and remembered the order and were positive it was complete. My instincts were right and the driver from Door Dash ate our food and drank our drink. The folks at Chipotle made it right and fixed the full order over and it was warm when my wife got home. They were adamant that they didn't want the problem with the delivery service reflect poorly on them and went the extra mile to get everything right for...
Read moreThis is some of the worst service I've seen in fast food. We paid $20 and stood in line for 15 minutes, while they cooked not 1 but 5 different things they were out of. (Might I mention that they had EIGHT people on). They ran out of both types of rice before the person on the line called for some more. Then when she asked she literally walked to the back and stood there waiting on the rice until it was ready, and they only made the brown rice so we really didn't even get to choose what we wanted. I asked for salsa not knowing that there were a few different types, and when I asked what another thing was the line person said "oh that's medium salsa" after she had already put whatever other salsa on my bowl (like ok sure whatever, make the choice for me without telling me there are different kinds). They didn't have any guac. They didn't have any vegetables. We watched two to go orders walk out without food. We watched the line person knock over someone's bowl and then laugh, no apology at all, and so the two people left without food because they too had been standing in line for 15 minutes. I will never come back here. I've literally worked in food service and there is no excuse for being out of so many things when you only have a few things that even need prep!!!! $20 is ridiculous for bad service and okay food. The only reason I gave it a 2 star rating is because my bowl was decent. But my boyfriend's burrito completely fell apart after literally 2 bites. It was absolutely a waste of time and money.
You can get better service, better prices, and better food at...
