I'm giving this two stars, but it has nothing to do with the food, which was awful. It's because our server was wonderful, but she should find work at a better restaurant. This one is really not good. I gave her a full 20% tip, but it had nothing to do with anything but her very pleasant attitude and prompt service. The food was not her fault.
The atmosphere is pleasant enough, but really dated and the cowboy theme is way overdone. The carpet is absolutely disgusting. Don't look down. Other than the floor the place was clean. I was annoyed that at 8:30 pm with an hour and a half until closing time I had to put up with a vacuum cleaner and the restaurant directly around me being cleaned while I ate (what little I ate).
My husband ordered Flo's filet and I ordered Sirloin. It had a special name, which it had no right to, but I don't remember it. We both ordered medium rare, with loaded baked potato, mine without cheese and Caesar Salads. We were served bread. It was warm, but a bit doughy. The butter (I don't think it was actually butter) was as hard as a rock and could not be spread on the bread without smashing it into a doughy mess. The salads arrived very quickly. They were very lightly dressed. Just a few leaves in a bowl with a mountain of unseasoned croutons on top. Seriously there was more crouton than lettuce and they had absolutely no seasoning. There was not even a hint of parmesan cheese in the salad. The dressing was watery and I did not finish my salad. That never happens. I love the salad as much as the steak when I go to a steakhouse.
Then the main arrived. The steaks were very underdone. Mine more than his, but they were tender and flavorful if you did not mind them being blue. Figuring, that if I sent it back I'd get it back overcooked I decided to just keep it. It wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't go back for another one. I liked the flavor of the rub they used, I just wish they would have hired someone that could cook. The first potato I got was burnt on the bottom like it had been fried. I could not cut it with a steak knife -- seriously, not an exaggeration. My husband's was the same. We sent them back and they were replaced within seconds, which told me that they were already cooked and dressed and sitting on some hot plate. We were also told that those were the last two in the house. (It was only 8:50 and the restaurant did not close until 10PM).
Then we tried to eat them. O. M. G. that sour cream. What the heck is that stuff? It was the most vile tasting baked potato I have ever attempted to eat. It was downright nasty. I considered sending it back then just asked for more bread instead. At this point I realized that there was nothing coming out of that kitchen that I would consider very edible. I should have known that when I read the menu and saw that the chef recommended we eat lamb chops cooked to medium. What???
So in the long run, for our $45 dollar dinner we had watery soda and watery salad without much lettuce and a poorly cooked steak with bread but no butter. Thank you to our wonderful server. Enjoy the ten bucks, but best tip I can give you: Texas Roadhouse is right across the street and happy...
Read moreI have rarely been this incensed with a Restaurant in my life.
Ordered a Cheeseburger. How do you mess up a cheeseburger? You burn it or you don't cook it.
Waitress was totally disconnected from the moment we were sat. Took forever to get drinks. When we got them, unsweet tea instead of sweet. She and most of the staff were buzzing around like gnats before we could flag her down to give our order and fix drinks. finally got bread after 10 minutes, another loaf was brought out, 25 min before food came out. Childs sirloin was raw on one side and well done on other(somebody needs to learn how to cut meat). My burger was burned(like charcoal inedible level) and my grandmothers(who had asked for well done) was tartare. I had to call over one of the hostess to get the manager. When he arrived, he told us that he had overheard my dissatisfaction while he was busing another table and went to check the burgers in the kitchen.
I do have to give kudos to the manager, as he genuinely wanted to fix the situation....but I do not send food back, especially when traveling. He gave me vouchers for any Longhorns and did not charge me for the salad or bread I had eaten.
This would have fixed it until the vile waitress refilled me with unsweet tea.
I looked at my seven year old who was trying to chew the shoe leather steak and asked him, " you want to go outside with me?" I have never been happier than when he audibly spat the morsel onto his plate and said, "yes, daddy, this place is awful."
The rest of our party continued to eat as they accepted the manager replacing their burger. Then the waitress refused to take the bill, opting instead to bus another table. Finally, my grandmother went to the hostess station and asked them to process the bill, she then showed up and apparently let her know how bad of a waitress she was. This part is second hand, as I did not go back into the store.
I found it unusual for a manager at a restaurant to be so attentive, and the staff, both kitchen and front-end to be so sorry.
I don't care about the vouchers, I would have rather eaten good food and paid...
Read moreI normally do not leave reviews if the experience was bad but after today, I truly believe one is needed. We decided to eat a late lunch/early dinner and where we were sat was a tight squeeze the entire time. I even thought when we sat, I could see something happening because of how close I was to the other table. Our server was great and none of this was her fault but another server with a pile of dishes with several glasses in her hand thought it was a great idea to go between me and the other table. Well when she did this, what I’m assuming were drinks, spilt all in my hair, my back, and my behind. I was in such shock that I yelled pretty loud, “oh my god”. The server stopped, turned her head some but kept moving. I thought she was going to put the dishes down and then come check on me but that never happened. I then found one of the managers on duty and when I hold him what happened, he acted as if it wasn’t a big deal. So I sat back down trying to clean myself up when the manager came up to me. He asked who did it and if I could point them out, so I did. He walked off with a horrible attitude. We were close enough to the kitchen were I saw another server say to other employees, “it’s not it was done on purpose, doesn’t she know it was an accident”. I assume the manager said something to the server who split stuff on me because she came over and said “oh sorry if I split something”. We did tell the manager we would be contacting higher up because of how this was handled. Names were not given even though I asked for them so I could provide more detail once I’m able to speak with someone higher up. My issue what if I was a child and a hot substance was split on me. We will not be back after I was made to feel that I was...
