You face a dilemma going here: The food is delicious, but expect to be there for hours because of the extremely slow service, no matter how busy or not busy they are. This is not a place to take toddlers or people who don't want to sit it a cramped space for longer than an hour and a half. I've been there twice. The first time, the food was hot and delicious but from the time we walked in until the time we got our food was about 50 minutes, and the time from eating until receiving the check and paying for the food was about another 50 minutes. It was not busy that night, but the service was extremely slow. They are very friendly, but couldn't possibly move any slower. The second time we went there, they were very busy and we got a little table in the cramped back room next to the kitchen. The service was just as slow, but the food was hot and delicious. We were cramped in the back room though, with people coughing and low-hanging lights, so I had to be careful standing up and I was concerned I might catch something. Here's the bottom line: Painfully slow service and very cramped spaces, but the food comes out hot and delicious. The food easily tastes better than all the competition in the area, whose food tastes like it was microwaved. I have eaten at this restaurant ever since it opened in the 90s and the food has always been excellent but tonight I was disappointed when my friend and I went there to grab a bite to eat. While talking to my friend upon arriving, he asked me to taste the salsa and tell him if i thought maybe it had gone bad. I tried it and it had an acidic taste to it like it had gone bad or was about to spoil. When our food arrived my taco salad was fine but again, my friend asked me to try a piece of the steak from his fajita nachos supreme and tell him if it tasted spoiled. I had to admit that it had an unusual taste and texture...it did not have the tender taste of grilled steak but rather it was almost like eating old steak that was mush when I chewed it...like it was old meat starting to break down...and it had no "flavor" to it at all...only the sauce in the dish had flavor. I was vey nice about it and even spoke in spanish to the waiter and manger so other customers would not hear. like i said, i like this restaurant and the nice friendly workers. much to my surprise when i told the waiter about the salsa he said they would look into it but made no offer to bring fresh salsa to replace what we had. When I told the waiter/manager about teh taste of the steak in my friend' s meal, he did not seem to care and replied: we only use fresh meat here...no apologies were offered. I'm gonna start off with this when my husband, my mother, and I arrived at the restaurant. I was excited to try a new Mexican restaurant. Because it's one of my favorite foods and when we went in. I noticed the gentleman. He saw us coming in and spoke. I then watched him go around other tables that came in after us first. Until I gave him a look and then he came to us. His service was not good from the beginning. The young lady brought us our chips, and I spoke. However, she did not understand English, nor did she speak it. I was frustrated. You're in America . The icing on the cake was that it took them 30 minutes to bring us our food. And I asked for cheese inside my beans! We're not going to talk about it. It wasn't that important, nor was it good. I didn't eat it. Then, when we got our receipt, he tried to add food from the table that was there when we got there. After I asked him what the extra was on our ticket? Then he says, "Oh, I'm sorry they ordered the same thing you ordered." Now he's looking silly. It took him a long time before he came back to us anyway.
