Hear me out. I went here last night for the second time but the last time I went here was a couple years ago. I tried to order a half Vegetale and half Butchers block pizza.
The manager (I assume) came to 'help' the clerk, who wasn't having any trouble, ring up the order. This began a 10-minute session where we learned about how hard it was to add or subtract toppings that ended in me paying 48.00 for a 36.00 pizza.
We sit down and less than 10 minutes later the 'chef' brings us a giant metal tray, twice the size of the pizza. This begins a discussion about whether the pizza was actually mine (after I said it was). I'm asked to show my receipt (glad I actually told the clerk I wanted it when she asked). I dig it out of my pocket, he asks to see it. I give it to him. He gives me the pizza and begins to walk away. Then asks if I want it? I said no but should have kept it to take a photo probably.
Now for the pizza. It was dripping with oil, super thin (floppy) crust, and looked like someone who thought they were a food artist literally threw handfuls of toppings on it in dramatic effect (no uniformity whatsoever) as if they were putting on a show for spectators. The pizza was tasty but undercooked, hard to eat with my hands (that were covered in oil every time I tried to handle a piece.
You might think this is where it ends, however, to cap it all off. After the spouse and I finished eating, there was still half the pizza left. I went to the counter and asked for a box. The employee looked over towards my table to see if I really needed a box. I think she wanted to offer me one of the smaller, cheaper, Styrofoam containers instead. I tell her we have half a pizza. She reluctantly goes to the back and brings me a box.
I won't be back but if you go, I'd recommend something besides their pizza, maybe a calzone or something.
Manager: Please don't contact me asking to 'make it right', I'm not looking for a discount, I'm just trying to help others avoid what I went through and hopefully educate you on how not to lose customers. I know you have plenty of traffic and this likely won't affect your business but if I help one person or family avoid what happened to me it was worth my...
Read moreI love this place the pizza is great and they cook it right there in front of you and every other time I’ve been here (which is only a couple times) the staff has been very friendly and the experience has always been good. However, I have a 3 star review because I was just not entirely happy with my visit tonight... I had been telling my boyfriend about this place for awhile and wanted to show it to him so we came in to grab a quick pizza it was pretty late it was 8:45 when we walked in and they close at 9 so we tried to hurry with our order and they lady working at the counter was very nice and helpful, I said to her “I know it’s late and y’all are trying to get out of here...” as I apologized for the timing of our visit and she replied with “don’t worry about it, y’all can eat here too if you want it to” I work in the restaurant industry so I know how it is when customers arrive late and we have to accommodate them, even when they stay way past the time we close so I’m always conscientious of that everywhere I go. So as out pizza came out of the oven, (we ordered it to go so we could just eat a quick slice before we headed out) we sat down and tried to eat just one slice and got about halfway through before one of the workers/cooks tall with glasses and a red and white hat approaches us AS SOON as the clock hit 9:00 and says to us “hey guys we’re closed” and my boyfriend replied “okay we’re about to walk out the door right now” and he said “yeah we are too” we left the restaurant at 9:01.... I just couldn’t believe how rude he was... theres definitely a much nicer way to ask someone to kindly leave... I wouldn’t expect any of my coworkers to tell a customer to leave the way he did. It...
Read moreThe few bad reviews for this place are from people who are uneducated in Neapolitan pizza. This is not comparable to New York and should not be judged in the same light. This pizza is Neapolitan and that is very clear in the name of the restaurant, yet some customers still don't understand why it doesn't taste like typically greasy American pie. Positano is a small village near Napoli, the city where pizza was invented. This pizza is cooked in the original style of Napoli, therefore any review blabbering about "nEw YoRk StYlE" is an arbitrary review. The bad reviews here simply don't understand what Neapolitan pizza is, or the reviewer does not have functioning taste buds. Rant over.
Crust- 10/10. Perfectly thin, so there is an even balance of sauce, toppings, and flavors in each bite.
Sauce- 10/10. If a pizzeria does not use San Marzano tomatoes, then it is not true pizza Neopolitan. This sauce, being made with the San Mazano tomatoes, makes it both authentic and delicious.
Cheese- 10/10. The Pizza Margherita had the perfect amount of fresh Mozzarella. The pizzas that are prepared with ricotta, Romano, and Parmesan are also fantastic. The sauce is perfectly cooked with a balanced flavor.
Ambiance- 10/10. Seating yourself and serving yourself is typical of many restaurants in Italy, not only many pizzerias. The restaurant was clean, especially the bathrooms. A modern decor, very open, and quite modern. I appreciate the water is served in the traditional containers that are common in Italy.
Conclusion. Positano Pizza Napoletana is the most delicious and authentic pizza I have ever had in my life. You get exactly what you pay for; Neapolitan pizza prepared...
