There were an impressive number of drink choices including signature cocktails, wine and beer. I chose the Deck Hand Cocktail - their take on a classic Manhattan - made with Bulleit Rye. It was equal parts bracing and refreshing. A generous orange peel gave it flair. Which is the perfect segue in describing the entrance of my appetizer and what an entrance it was!

(Side note: I sat facing the kitchen towards the back of the restaurant. The kitchen sits behind a massive window pane grid accessed through silent, double, sliding glass doors a la Bond's MI-5. Very chic!)

So as I tipped back to get the last few drops my cocktail out of the corner of my eye I see a floating dome of white smoke heading towards the sliding glass doors. Was it my imagination or did the lights just flicker a bit? The doors parted and the dome was heading straight for me! I braced myself for impact. I narrowed my eyes just as the dome arrived tableside. It suddenly leaped upward! When the smoke cleared I laid my eyes upon the most delicate Smoked Salmon Tartare. Accented by a cheese mixture and chives, there wasn't much to this dish. The accompanying crostini made up for it. I would've opted for more crostini had I been asked.

For my main course I went with the Crispy Sea Bass. It came with diced winter squash, brown butter and wild mushrooms. The portion doesn't look like much in the photos, but there was more than enough. The bass had a nice pan sear giving it a golden crust. The fish was cooked perfectly with just enough give when forked through. They gave the butter the heavy lifting when it came to flavor Which. Was. Perfectly. Fine! Too many places automatically include lemon wedges nowadays - even the good ones. I would have enjoyed the bass and butter alone. To be honest I would have preferred the squash and mushrooms pureed with the bass resting on top. As is, the squash was firm, tasty, but nothing memorable without the counterpoint of the wild mushrooms. The dish was almost too dense. Good thing I opted for the Hogwash Rose - a Californian rose Grenache. It's light, floral notes helped cut through the heaviness of my entree.

My dessert was the Seasonal Fruit Crostada with brown butter maple pecan ice cream. The filling was made with apples. It was served warm. I found it hard to cut through the edges. Nonetheless, it was delicious! I cleaned my plate.

The service was excellent. From the charismatic host to the knowledgeable servers to the attentive bussers everything was top grade. My water glass was always filled - with Badoit sparkling, wouldn't you know - and I never went long without someone asking if everything was to my liking. It was.

There was a great atmosphere. The bar was lively and bright. The decor, nautical and upscale. The main dining room is buttoned up enough for a power lunch - intimate enough for a nice date, yet comfy enough for an adult family gathering. The patio reminded me of the great rooms most residents on Lido wished they hadn't given up to move there. Thankfully, The Mayor's Table offers a spectacular...

We went to the Mayors Table at the Lindo House hotel in Newport Beach this evening. We were a group of about 20 people, and before ordering requested that we get seperate bills (5 of them) as we were a few families. The waitress did not want to do it and we had to ask a manager to do it, who herself did not want to do it, and had to be asked multiple times to do it, which she finally agreed to. The food was served withing about 20 minutes (they were not busy). The food was good for the most part, but we had 1 meal at our table that the person that ordered it did not like the taste of, and asked to exhange it for something else. The second meal was fine. Upon getting the seperate bills, our bill had a meal that had been double charged, which when asked to remove it from the bill, the waitress said that she was sorry about the mistake, but that she can't remove it, and we once again had to talk to the manager to adjust it. And the person that had returned and exhanged their meal, got charged for it on their bill along with the second meal. When they spoke to the waitress, they were once again told that she couldn't do it, and the manager once again had to get involved. But this time the manager did not want to remove it and insisted that she should pay for the meal regardless of whether she returned it or not. After a close to 5 minute back and fourth explaining why the food was not good, the manager finaly agreed to remove it. This is an expensive restaurant that does not deliver good customer service, while the food for the most part was fine, the way that we as customers were treated was quite poor. Try another restaurant, preferably one with a slightly larger menu and reasonable...

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST SERVICE AND DINING EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! I have dined at many restaurants in my life and let me tell you... the Customer Service at Mayor's Table was outstanding! They truly make you feel like V.I.P and go ABOVE the call of duty! As soon as we are arrived we we're greeted with warm smiles from Lana & Jeff! These two both described the dishes beautifully and romanced everything! Henry has great energy and fabulous hospitality. Major compliments to the chefs and Chef Riley & Chef Joe! The presentation of the plating was like art, the flavors all complimented each other and you could tell each dish was made with love. The Tuna Toast was my favorite appetizer and the Burger really did outshine! The smokey flavors were divine! Fun fact as well, Piper Heidsieck Champagne is only served at Mayor's Table in the States! To top off the special evening, we we're super delighted with the best Coffee Chocolate Cake I've ever tasted and the Deconstructed Cheesecake which was also delish!!!! Eating outside perfect but the interior of the restaurant is warming with the fireplace and dim lighting! I would highly recommend this restaurant for either a date night or a night spent with family & friends. The staff truly turn "moments into memories" and leave you completely take away - 11/10!!!! Thank you to everyone who made that night super spectacular, you are...

This place was too pretentious for me. The restaurant tries a bit too hard to be like Mastro’s with their prices but lacks decadent menu that Mastro’s offers. Our meat dishes came out without any veggies. This is after asking if I can swap the risotto that accompany the meat dish with fries. They said yes but then later charged us extra for it. While the other meat dish had nothing but meat when it was supposed to come with mushrooms. They tried real hard to upsell you. The restaurant ambiance is nice for a party though. They need to work on their limited and lackluster menu to match what they charge. However, the pork chop was good quality. Just wish they accompany it with some veggies.
