I am a new worker and frequent customer at the establishment and have been treated nothing but good at the Waffle House here at Buford Highway. I used to work for the Little Caesars nearby which had very poor atmosphere and the manager there was not very healthy for the employees and only sat on their butt all day talking with their family.
My previous co-workers at my older job, one for example only got paid 2$ for a two-weeks amount of work, not due to recording problems or not clocking in as I've seen what its like there, they just didn't wanna pay him, and I had to quit when the manager there was being aggressive often, which originally wasn't an issue when I first entered, verbally aggressive and uncaring for physical scheduling of employees and their pay. You go in the front door you're not allowed to wait inside at all and get kicked out into the hot sun, and have to be kicked out multiple times due to pizza taking longer than 10 minutes to cook, especially if its a supreme with additional toppings and time to make.
At this waffle house, i've had nothing but very good training in-the-building and by the manager himself when he could, and hes done nothing but give me a good home at Waffle House, he gets at the right areas of problems, assists with cooking, helps with servers occasionally when he can, and has helped a great deal in holding the place up despite its slow times during 2nd shift and 3rd shift from what i'm aware of and have seen.
It is a far better business I have applied for and have eaten at, and the food here has great care put into it unlike my previous job mentioned, with gloves being used, proper cleaning done to the best of every employees ability as trained as they are. The environment isn't always social depending on business, whether its very busy or, slow, but when it is it is one of the best experiences there is as it is one of the most casual interactions you can have between an employee and customer coming in without it feeling forced, you'l often see employees smiling and willing to take orders, wanting to be at these tables.
I'm still newer to my position, but it has been two weeks in since work and buying in at this restaurant and I have nothing but good experiences, the food here is enjoyable to all at all times of day, despite our main deal being breakfast, due to its quality and care. Plus the interactions in the establishment are generally in majority one of the healthiest you can have. I'll refer to the manager as J. in this post but if you notice him in the building you should definitely pay mind to his great efforts and very good work if you're an waffle house associate, and you should also come and eat at this waffle house if you're a frequent at the nearby Norcross Road next to Suenos or frequent the many buildings in...
Read moreI went to this location with my family shortly before 2pm. The waiter promptly requested our drink order and we gave it. The shift manager (Joshua) then told the waiter that he needed to get pur order immediately because of shift change. We had no more than 20 seconds to even glance at the menu before the staff was demanding we order immediately. Obviously, this was pretty annoying so we decided to leave. On the way out I told the manager that it was rude and poor customer service to try to rush their customers into placing an order. He told that it was shift change and that people had stuff to do and we could eat somewhere else (which we were clearly already doing since we were leaving). I requested the district managers phone number and he told me no. I told him that he needed to give me the number and he threatened to call the police. Seeing as I did nothing wrong, I waited for the police to come and explained what happened. The manager had the police ban me from the location. It was an absolutely absurd experience from start to finish and this team needs some heavy duty retraining to understand how to take care of their customer especially during shift change. Waffle house has been around for decades and it should not require rushing the customer or mistreating them to...
Read moreI came to this Waffle House to get a quick lunch. I ordered to go but decided to stay. The manager on duty, Cedric, left his staff with a dirty stove, kitchen, and product in the back. One employee was waiting for her relief and when I left over an hour and a half later, her relief still hadn't shown up and the manager didn't call to find out anything nor let her leave. He left! And she cleaned up his mess at the stove. He also took the till to count and left without replacing a new one back into the drawer. The same waitress that cleaned up his mess had to count the till and put it in the drawer. All of this came from sitting and observing. There were only 3 customers in this time frame. Not busy! The ladies just picked up his slack and kept working. GREAT LADIES! This is not a good manager. He stayed in the back room almost the ENTIRE time I was in here. Cedric should be written up or fired. A manager is supposed to manage and have leadership qualities. A manager should leave the place how he came to the place. A manager should have some pride in managing no matter where it is. Cedric is NOT...
