Let me start by saying I am not one to complain! Also, I am not a picky eater and can vibe in any environment. With that being said LET ME TELL YOU!!
Last Wednesday was one of my Best Friends birthday! She chose to celebrate by having brunch at the new spot we heard about called Canvas.
It’s about Noon. We walk in egar to try this new brunch spot in Norfolk and HUNGRY! Their artwork and setup is beautiful! Perfect walls to take pictures 🤳. I loved the music playlist early 2000’s vibe. Beautiful establishment!
There was 3 of us and the other 4 people were on their way. We walk in and were NOT GREETED by the hostess who was very rude! She didn’t welcome us, didn’t smile, only asked us how many. We said 7, the other 4 are parking. She informs us she can’t seat us until we have 1 more person and tells us to have a seat by the window until the others arrive. I said we can’t sit at the table and wait? She said yall can have a seat over there (pointing by the window). (I’m aggravated with the service already, but it’s my girls bday so imma chill. I laugh and go sit down and wait quietly like a good noodle lol.)
The rest of our group arrive 5-10 mins later. We inform the hostess. She says, “I have to go check and make sure the table is ready.” and has us wait……
YALL NOBODY WAS IN THERE! SHE LEGIT ONLY HAD TO PUSH 2 TABLES TOGETHER THAT WERE 5 INCHES APART! 🙄 at this point I’m laughing to keep my composure. Cus why didn’t you do that while we were waiting!?!
We are seated and our waitresses was AWESOME! Her name was Winter and She was very sweet!
They were out of a few things such as mushrooms and turkey burgers. I was confused cus they had just opened and it was the middle of the week. Their menu online is different than the one in the restaurant, the items and prices.
I ordered a large mimosa($15)with the crab and shrimp omelette($22). My friends ordered chicken, waffles with Mac and cheese, fried pork chop, chicken tenders, and salad. (Idk what their food cost)
Our food was brought out one plate at a time. I asked my friend, “Shouldn’t they bring all the food out together?” Then the manager got up from sitting at the bar and helped our waitress bring the rest of the food out a few minutes later. By this time I’m starving!
YALL THE FOOD WAS DISGUSTING!🤮
The shrimp weren’t done. They weren’t even pink, still translucent/ raw. The omelette was still runny in the middle like it wasn’t cooked long enough, the toast didn’t taste like butter! It tasted like they dropped it in grease and fried it. The potatoes were good but I didn’t eat them cus I wasn’t paying for that plate!
Everyone else agreed The Mac and cheese and all fried foods( chicken, pork chop, potatoes) was good. Everyone also agreed the waffles/ batter tasted nasty.
I was so aggravated and HANGRY after waiting SO LONG I cashapped my friend for the mimosa and went Nextdoor to Plaza Azteca!
My friend talked to the manager about the food and that we will pay for everything except 2 plates because everyone else ate their food. We had separate checks.
YALL WHY DID THEY TRY TO PUT THE FOOD WE DIDNT EAT ON ANOTHER FRIENDS CHECK! So she had to have them fix that! They knew what they were doing! SMH NEEDLESS TO SAY WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING!
My experience: 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND! Food 0/10 Customer Service 0/10 Aesthetic/ visual appeal...
Read moreWhen I first moved to the area and learned about cava I loved it I could eat it literally every day. But the more I went the worse it got the service absolutely horrible. You have one person doing everything because the other eight employees that are standing there are all too busy chitchatting and talking and worried about what the other people are doing. I can never order without somebody leaving my food there to go take care of somebody else and by somebody else I don’t mean customer I mean other employee, an employee took their lunch line to get their order took us 30 minutes just to get our food by the time we got it. Anything that was hot was cold because this employee had all the other employees waiting on her. God forbid the cashier be able to complete a transaction without stopping what they’re doing the other day. I was the only person there the only person Had to be at least 10 employees working the place was absolutely disgusting. The girl Aubrey that was waiting on me. She was good. She was quick. She was prom. She had all my stuff down, but I’m like great. I’m gonna get out of here and have enough time to eat my lunch after ordering my lunch for the first time ever Midway completing my order. A random kid walks up and says hey I’m here for an interview. The girls stopped in the middle of completing my order and went to find whoever in charge of the interview then continued my order stopped again to give this interview person a cup so he could get a drink. Why couldn’t I just cash out and leave before you took care of him there was no one behind me . You have some employees and then you have some employees that do. The service is horrible all the way around and the place is like there’s no cleaning there’s no stocking. There’s no nothing and understand that there’s rushes in this and that like I used to work in the food industry for like 15 something years but come on man come on you got a bunch of young kids running around in here no adult supervision like what what the gloves are make their touching money they’re touching their faces are rubbing their eyes, their nose freaking playing with their hair and then touching our food. I had to ask the girl to change her gloves three different times And I’m not petty like at all about like oh you had to touch a button or do this like I’m not petty at all, but the fact that she was rubbing on her face what yeah, I probably won’t be coming back to this location ever again and it really sucks because I really truly loved your food. I was here three times a week and it’s just horrible horrendous. and to top it off, I get into my car and all the way back to my work and I’m like I can eat. I go to get my hummus and my side pita it’s not in the bag that’s cute. How aggravating that I’m paying for things that I’m not getting and I know what you’re thinking. Oh it’s I got...
Read moreWent here on a Saturday night to see the live singer. My Friend told me about and was super excited to go. We arrived there at 720pm and there was already a long wait. I had it in my mind that this is what we were going to do that night so we decided to stay, knowing that many other restaurants in the area probably had a long wait as well. The hostess regularly updated us and we could see how busy and unorganized everything was. As a person with a long history in the restaurant industry, I was able to recognize certain things a regular customer may not realize which is why I decided to remain patient. BUT, because of my b/g there were many things I could not believe was happening. The hostess was helping to serve, bartender, and clean tables while seating and getting everyone on a list. They allowed big parties (10+ people to a table) that were very rowdy and kept replacing people as someone would leave. There was someone (in reg clothing) that was constantly going behind the bar and entertaining some ladies in the front who were there long before us, and stayed long after us. There were tables who had no food just drinks and stayed for multiple hours. People sitting at the ends of tables that were meant to be seated for 4 people blocking a walkway and they allowed people to be standing, smoking hookah, and singing over everyone with NO MASKS on. Servers were all completely frazzled and we could not at all point out anyone who would be considered the “manager” or in charge of what was going on. After waiting over an hour to be seated, it took another 30+ min for a server to come by and greet us. I was amazed that no one even did a “table touch” to let us know they’ll be back to help us even if they couldn’t get to us right away. But, our server (I believe her name was Claudia) was so sweet and so apologetic for everything and when I asked what her section was, she told me she didn’t have one and the servers were just picking up tables. Luckily, we had good music, a sweet server, and the food actually came out hot and tasted great. Unfortunately, everything I wanted (lobster dip and nachos) were all out so I decided on calamari, my friend ordered the chicken and biscuits (was delicious!). And we were planning on ordering more but the waiting and disorganization actually made me loose my appetite by the time we got to order. I write this with the best intentions because this place has so much potential but you can’t have great food with terrible service. If the owner(s) revamped the way they handled their food service, this place would definitely make a lot more money and get a lot more...
