Amazing! We went for a themed event Tea called Hocus Pocus. We were running a few minutes late due to the rain and traffic, but they called us to make sure we were still coming before they started. Foods that were served was the classic finger sandwiches like chicken salad, egg salad and cucumber sandwiches. Sweets were crumpets with fresh marmalade, cookies and lady fingers. Fresh brewed tea with sugar cubes shaped like bats and frogs. The house was dressed in mourning garb from the Victorian Era and went well with the Hocus Pocus Witch theme. To our delight the Sanderson sisters arrived to cast spells and we were part of the fun. At the end of the tea, Winnie regaled us with "I put a spell on you". We were then free to wander the upstairs part of the house. It was absolutely amazing. All the furnishings and accents were of the Victorian Era. Will definitely take a tour with a guide some time soon. This was an afternoon well spent sipping tea with my daughter and...
Read moreStaff was friendly. Our tour guide, Michaela, was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions we had....she knew EVERYTHING about the house. This is not a great place for young children and I wouldn't be comfortable bringing a group of older children here either. This museum is set up in a house and does not have the spaciousness of many traditional museums. There are too many things for kids to accidentally (or mischievously) touch or bump into and my own three kids were making staff visibly anxious despite my keeping a close eye on them. I would definitely come back on my own or with my oldest or even with a group of teens. We had a...
Read moreReally neat and well-preserved piece of history. It's fascinating to learn about how the inhabitants lived in this house, and its beautifully kept inside, despite some historical alterations beyond control of the organization. They offer both guided and self-guided tours and have unique bits and bobs with historical information. They highly encourage arranging your tour ahead of time, but do allow walk-in tours if able. We passed through in about an hour or so, and the gift shop has some unique finds. Worth a visit for history lovers! I would say to leave little ones at home as they don't want anyone touching objects...
