So maybe I expect too much from a fast food restaurant but I really don't think I do. I try to always be mindful of the fact they serve so many people everyday, I consider that they may be understaffed over worked mismanaged etc but there are a few things that regardless of whatever the obstacle may be there just is no exception to and that first and foremost for me is remembering without the customer you have no job!! Employers I can't say this enough GET TO KNOW YOUR EMPLOYEES A BIT AND PLACE THEM INTO POSITIONS ACCORDING TO THEIR ABILIITIES!!! I'm sorry but "Welcome to McDonald's" doesn't hit the same when it's coming out of someone slumped against the counter proclaiming how they just wanna go home in between customers. That's just the beginning of the problems I have with this visit unfortunately the poor experiences I've had at my prev trips to this establishment both indoor and drive thru make so it's hard to overlook or excuse certain things. I arrived with my 6yr old and two little girls I watch after school one 11 and the other 13 with AUTISM ( a condition that I generally wouldn't point out however for the purpose of this review it extremely relevant) I have a very high expectation as far as behavior goes for children especially when out in public, in other people's homes and in places of business so mind you I don't have kids that run a muck are rude or disrespectful of people or their property at anytime. I expect my son to be a gentleman and the ladies to be ladylike which to anyone who knows anything about autism can be a challenge however we have mastered it for the most part but kids will still be kids and need the grace and space to be so. So upon entering this visit the first thing we noticed is the ordering panel only had one working and there seemed to be several people standing around kind of unsure what to do while several young employees were standing around chatterin amongst themselves behind the counter. I would normally ask the kids to have a seat and wait as I waited to order however every table in eyesight was full of left over remnants from a previous customers order or hadn't been wiped down. The kids as usual were excited to play on the toys as usual so given the condition of the seating and the fact there was an empty playroom at the time I decided to go ahead and let them go back and play while they waited. Finally the gal slumped at the counter realized people were waiting and asked if she could take my order as I was ordering my 13 year old came up and stood next to me and although she may have technically been interrupting me proceeded to pay the young gal taking out order a compliment on her earrings to which the gal stared at her for a second and then rolled her eyes and asked if that was all. Immediately I scanned for a manager anywhere close by because I could tell this could very quickly turn into an incident. I noticed the person with the managers tag standing within earshot staring in our direction made eye contact with her and felt she would most definitely be witnessing the events and handle it on some level. Again without missing a beat my 13 yrs old repeated her previous statement thinking that perhaps the rude little girl taking our order just simply hadn't heard her. The gal then with a forced smile snaps at her saying I heard you and proceeds to tell me my total and hand me cups for our drinks. I quickly passed my child her cup and as soon as she stepped away I politely let the young girl know that maybe if she's having such a bad day that she can't find it within her abilities to even be polite to a disabled customer that perhaps she should take the day off instead of trying to push thru her shift for whatever reason. The rest of the visit was pretty much the same- our order was completely wrong and slopped on the tray needless to say Strike 1,2 and 3- $47 is a lot to pay for my kids "eat treat" but definitely worth every penny to see just how much they value their customers. Needless to say we won't be back š¤¬š” thank you Wendys for great food and...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePros: Always fresh. Always fast. The parking lot is always clean. The employees care about your order and theyāre pleasant. Itās next to a convenient exit thatās close to a major interchange. Thereās a QFC in the same parking lot. There are several gas stations and a Starbucks on the other side of the overpass.
Cons: There are ALWAYS sketchy people lurking the parking lot. They only take cash at night. Quite often there are employees cleaning the parking lot with pressure washers near my car which is frustrating when itās sunny and Iāve just washed and dried my car. The few times Iāve been inside, theyāve been cleaning and I personally hate trying to eat and have someone cleaning around me.
The ālocalsā swarming the parking wasnāt very appetizing and would be scary for travelers just trying to get something fast and easy at the most convenient fast food because itās next to the Pacific ave exit from 512. At night this McDonalds (and Iām finding a lot of others) only accept cash. A lot of the McDonalds only take cash at night. It made me worried that one of them might try to rob me while I was in the drive through and I was stuck between the other cars.
That area is a ridden with high crime from local sketchiness having to be looked in and a LOT of car chases because of it proximity to the I-5/512 interchange, Pacific Ave and 112th straight shots.
My visit was after 10 pm and thatās how it ALWAYS is at that location.
If you need to make a quick convenient stop off of the highway though, itās perfect because thereās a QFC thatās open until midnight in the same parking lot and several gas stations to choose from on the other side of the overpass.
During the day I donāt have all of these problems.
On a good note, this McDonald always gets my order right, the employees are always pleasant and care about getting your order right. The few times thereās been a mistake, someone had already figured it out by the time I got to the second window or I had to wait less than a minute to get the right thing.
During the day at busy times, thereās been times I had to pull forward and wait for my food when it wasnāt ready but itās never been...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe people here are the worst. I am not talking about the staff, mind you. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is clean.
I am talking about the other customers. People of North Bend, how do you not know how to order food????
Other reviewers have noted the long wait times, and that is because the customers are ridiculous. Absolutely everything is special-ordered. Half the time they will order something not on the menu, and the staff will diligently work on how to modify items to create what they want.
After hiking nearby Mailbox Peak, I was sore and tired and all I wanted in the world was a ridiculously greasy and calorie-laden quarter pounder and some salty fries. As we were paying separately, my hiking partner went to order inside while I went through the drive-thru.
No one else took less than five minutes at the order speaker. Adding this, holding that...every item and I mean EVERY item had to be special ordered. I couldn't hear what the lady in front of me said, but I heard the speaker reply "...so you just want a plain burger patty, no bun, nothing on it?"
No. No! THAT'S NOT HOW YOU ORDER FOOD!!! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU NORTH BEND?!?! WHY CAN'T YOU ORDER FOOD NORMALLY?!?! WHO ORDERS A PLAIN-A** BURGER PATTY ANYWAY?!?! STAHP!!!
When it was finally my turn I was like "Gimme a number 2 with a diet Coke" and the order guy was like, "is...is that all? Any substitutions? Are you sure???" Yes I am sure because I actually know how to order food at McD's.
My hiking partner got back in the car and was like, "It was so ridiculous in there. Everyone had to make everything special-ordered!"
I have since talked with others who have the same experiences at this McD's, so this is a Thing that other people have experienced at other times, seemingly exclusive to this location.
Any other McD's you won't have this issue, but good God, North Bend. Learn to f*ing order food the...
