Had the AYCESR a couple weeks ago - that's All You Can Eat Sushi RICE. First AYCE Sushi is rare and with inflation I wasn't expecting to be that impressed, but said what the heck. The price has gone up to $34.95 (at least) if I recall. I made the mistake of ordering 3 orders of two kinds of nigiri. I should have gotten more of a variety to scope out what was actually decent. I was expecting the cuts of fish to be small and the amount of rice to be large. I was also expecting the rice to be over seasoned (sort of like how everything at a Buffet AYCE restaurant is so salty - to help make you feel full.) I underestimated. The cuts of fish were laughable, probably about half the amount you get at a conveyor belt place and the quality was very mediocre. Rice had too much sugar as expected. I had a stomach ache I had to eat so much rice just to get a small amount of actual protein. On the plus side, the place has an okay atmosphere (not traditional Japanese) and the staff was friendly and gave good service including what look like to be two late 20-something White Boys making the sushi. If you don't like "real" sushi, as in, actual RAW fish, you may like this place as they have a wide selection of rolls that are just different combinations of the same 6 or 7 ingredients many with no raw fish, some with mayo-based sauce, some teriyaki based sauce, some with both. I call this Scaredy Cat "Cheescake Factory" Sushi. Anyone who claims this place has some of the best sushi around has been living in the woods around North Bend and not eaten sushi in the city. If you go in with moderate expectations and are going to eat mostly the cooked food, I think you'll be okay though.

Update: Trappers reached out to me and offered me a refund and credit for a future visit. Updating to 3 stars to reflect that this may have just been a fluke. Extremely disappointing takeout experience at Trappers North Bend. The food I received was not what was stated on the menu and the quality and taste of the food was poor. I ordered both the gluten free and regular chicken teriyaki entrees and they were the absolute saddest plates of teriyaki I've ever seen (pictures attached...enjoy!). Neither came with cucumber salad and neither had any teriyaki sauce on them, but instead we're just sad rubbery pieces of chicken with poorly cooked white rice. Tried to contact the restaurant chain for a refund, but so far they have ignored me. Overall super disappointing as I was excited to have a gf option for teriyaki in the neighborhood.

I’ve always enjoyed ordering from Trapper’s Sushi, but after my recent experience, I’m truly disappointed. I called in to place an order, and the phone attendant, Amanda, made me feel completely unimportant and unvalued as a customer. From the very beginning, her tone was cold and dismissive, and she didn’t seem to care at all about answering my questions in a helpful or polite manner.

It honestly felt like I was bothering her just by trying to order food. I asked a couple of simple questions about the menu, and each response was short, impatient, and delivered in a tone that was frustrating and rude. At one point, when I asked for a little clarification on an item, she responded in such an irritated way that I felt completely brushed off.

As a customer, I expect to feel welcomed and appreciated, but Amanda made me feel like my business wasn’t valued at all. It’s hard to enjoy your meal when the experience leading up to it was so unpleasant. I’ve had much better interactions with other staff members here, so I hope this was just an isolated incident. But I definitely think management needs to address this to make sure no one else feels...
