Not sure who reads these but this establishment recently went above and beyond. This review is not directly attributable to the quality of their food (even though it is my Mom's favorite) but rather their human connection to their community. I live in Northern Virginia and I have not had the opportunity to see my mom in over a year. Our family is small. Only my mom and I. My dad and brother passed away several years ago. My mom and dad struggled in their early years. One of their favorite sayings at the time was "when we can afford pizza every night that is when we know we made it". Since I have not seen my mom I decided to order a pizza for her. I requested that the delivery person recite this saying upon delivery. My mom called me in tears when the pie was delivered. The delivery person had a post it note with the note and recited it when the delivery was made. During these very difficult times I would like to say Thank You to Mama Pepino's for their attention to personal experiences....
Read moreI've had this pizza with my parents before and i thought it was really good. I volunteered to go pick it up tonight, wish I didn't. We were told 30 minutes so I showed up after 30. They were busy so I sat down to wait (not the biggest deal). There were two girls at the front counter, one ringing people up/handling money. The other was making boxes and cutting pizza. While sitting there waiting, I had to watch the girl who rung me up touching her phone, repeatedly wiping her nose with her hand and touching her hair. I prayed she wouldn't go back and touch any food after seeing that, but then it happened.... no hand washing in between. Thank god I didn't order the wings or whatever she was boxing up. Then my pizza came out of the oven and I had to watch the other girl cut it in the box with her long braid over her shoulder hovering right over my pizza. Ew. Please review cleanliness/food safety regulations with your staff or at least hide it better when you have customers staring at you. 3 stars for the pizza actually tasting good, despite what germs may be hidden inside....
Read moreDecided to try this place after being the plaza it's in and see'ing alot of people going in and out.
We called to order with a coupon we got in the mail and they said they did accept it. Went there to pick it up and the coupon was questioned. They accepted it and when I got home I called the company that makes the coupons and they said without Mama Pepino's approval the coupons wouldn't be published.
The pizza dough was raw and the "jumbo wings" were small. I can get bigger jumbo wings across the street at Giant Eagle.
First time in 15 years i've been served raw pizza dough and i've had alot of pizza.
Perhaps we got the coupon treatment. I would suggest to Mama Pepinos that if they don't want to accept coupons don't put your name on them.
Won't...
