All we can say is wow.
This was our first visit to Old School Pizzeria - from a 1st choice recommendation from Siri. We read through a handful of the Yelp reviews and decided that 4.5 stars by over 500 people was a good sign.
We went in on a Tuesday night just before 8pm. About half the restaurant was full. We walked up to the counter and told the guy (Jose) that we were first timers. He walked us through the menu which was great since we didn't really know what to expect.
We ordered garlic knots and a small carnivore pizza. Knots came out first. Piping hot which was great. (Our only suggestion is to ask for marinara for dipping since you get a side of ranch with it.) They were slightly crispy and soft in the middle.
The pizza came a little bit after. It was a little greasy, but nothing less should be expected with all that meat and cheese. Nothing a napkin couldn't help with. The pizza was nice and hot also.
The toppings, what can I say about the toppings... as a first timer. I was impressed. There were strips of chicken, strips of bacon... and sure enough, the menu says homemade meatballs (that were sliced.) It was amazing. We were thinking cubed chicken with the bacon bits - like what you would get at a dominos/pizza hut setting, but this was NOTHING close to that.
After the delightful app and entree we had to try the cannoli. Sure enough - it was just like the rest of the food - Spectacular!
And of course, I think Jose should get a lot of the credit too. He staff always makes or breaks the experience as a whole. He was our greeter, cashier, waiter, etc. We only talked to him a little bit each time he came to the table, and each of those times we learned a new piece of info... the conversation really rounded the whole dining experience.
The only thing I would change is I wish you could have the option to pay at the end instead of upfront. I think we would've tipped more on the back end, then upfront when we ordered (before even trying the food or experiencing the service.)
We will DEFINITELY be...
Read moreFirst time we went was afew months ago and we had no issues, this time around was just very unprofessional and disappointing. I normally don’t review places but this was unfair to the guy who actually gave us some good customer service.
Firstly, we walked in and the young man kindly let us know he was alone up front and it could be a wait time. We were fine with that and was told to have a seat. The lady with the tattoos above her brow came from the back and was already hostile to awards the worker who was doing things ALONE. He was informing her of what was needed for the people waiting and he received attitude from her.
Secondly, she was told of us waiting and proceeded to do whatever it was she was doing. Once new customers came in she proceed to help them and didn’t acknowledge that we were waiting. She greeted them, gave them a menu and proceeded to leave the register. I got up and told her I was waiting to order and than she took my order. Our order was taken prior to the other customers ordering and she still catered to them first.
Lastly, in the 45minutes that we were there 2 pizzas we burned. I blame the lack of assistance to the young man who was doing everything. He kindly came to the table and let us know we had to wait an additional 20minutes while he made a new one and also offered us complimentary garlic knots while we waited.
After 2 burnt pizzas and some very impatient looking customers, another young man from the back came to assist. I’m unsure as to what made it a rough day today but it definitely left a bad impression and unsure...
Read moreOld School Pizzeria at 2040 E Craig Rd in North Las Vegas left a lot to be desired in terms of food and service. Last night, I ordered an XXLarge Combo pizza and a half dozen Garlic Rosemary Bread Knots to-go for approximately $45, including tax. While a bit pricey, I wanted to try the restaurant since it was conveniently located near my home.
Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing from the start. I was informed that my order would take 45 minutes to prepare, which seemed excessive for an XXLarge pizza, and the shop only had about five customers. As I waited, I noticed a foul odor in the air but didn't realize it was coming from my pizza until the staff informed me that it had burned due to a malfunctioning oven. The pizza was completely blackened and inedible.
The staff offered to make a new pizza for me, which they claimed would only take 15 minutes to prepare. However, when I received the replacement pizza, I realized that the first one had taken longer for a reason. The second pizza was undercooked and had a watery consistency that made it unappetizing. Even after just one slice, I couldn't bear to finish it and ended up throwing it away.
Overall, I would not recommend Old School Pizzeria for those seeking high-quality pizza and good customer service. The burnt and undercooked pizzas were not up to par with the premium prices charged by the restaurant. Additionally, the staff seemed disorganized and lacked attention to detail. For a more enjoyable pizza experience, I suggest exploring other options...
