I've been going to GG's since the mid 80's with my family and friends. We had MANY fun times there and were always treated like family. I was sad to find out that George is no longer the owner and I wish him the best in retirement, GG's will never be the same.
Tonight was the first time I've ever had a negative experience at this restaurant. Our waitress, Leticia, was let's just say not customer service friendly. We were a table of 4, 3 plus me. My friends each ordered an entree and I ordered a mini pizza. Leticia brought over a large bowl served family style of salad with 2 plates (my friend opted for soup instead of salad and my pizza doesn't come with salad). The bowl of salad was large and my friends couldn't finish what was served so I asked Leticia for an extra plate so I could have some of their salad. She asked "would you like a side salad"? I replied, no, just an extra plate so I could share the salad that was already on the table. She replied "your pizza doesn't come with a salad"... I replied "1. it's not like you have to bring any additional salad to the table and 2. with any salad not consumed it's going to be thrown out anyways" so please bring me a plate, she did but it wasn't without a fight. The salad was also served with NO dressing so my friend asked her for dressing and was given only a small cup of dressing for a large salad bowl. When we arrived the restaurant was 99% empty with only 2 other tables being occupied but it took a good 30-35 minutes for our meals to be served.
We also had 3 groupons and 3 seperate checks, the server would not let us use more than 1 even though we had 3 different checks. She said the rule is 1 per table, however, per the terms on Groupon (next paragraph) it's 1 per visit (it doesn't say per table).

While I've enjoyed eating at GG's for so many years this will be the last time I will dine there. There are many other options for italian food in the area where the wait staff make you feel welcome. To the new owners of GG's I wish you the best but please remember it's not only the food that will make your customers decide to go back, it's your staff as well. If your staff makes customers feel unwelcome they won't return, such was the feeling I received last night for the first time ever eating at GG's in...
Read moreWe really wanted wanted love this place. We live 5 minutes away and I remember this place from when I was younger. The first time we got pizza my husband went in an ordered takeout. He ordered a large pizza, a small cheese, and garlic knots. He checked the box and he was given the pizza bread to which he stated he didn't order that and ordered garlic knots. They told him it was going to take 15/20 minutes to make them. He said never mind and took yhe pizza bread because he had already paid and no refund was offered. We didn't need this pizza bread as there was 3 of us and we already had a cheese. The next time weordered, 2 days ago, I ordered online. My mom was visiting and she went with me to pick it up. The hostess gave us our oder and I walked back to the car and something told me to check the boxes. This time we had ordered an xl pizza, a dozen knots and a pizza Bread. When I opened up the box it was garlic bread, garlic knots, and our pizza. I went back in as the pizza bread was for our little one at home who wouldn't have eaten the items on our pizza. I showed the hostess what was in the box and said I ordered a pizza bread and this is just garlic, she said that's what it's supposed to be. I said on your website the pizza bread has marinara and cheese. She took the box back to the kitchen and came back and said it would be ready in 5 minutes. I pulled up the menu and asked her if what I ordered was correct and was supposed to have cheese and marinara and she said yeah, she said she read the ticket wrong in the back. I proceeded to wait 10 minutes for this while the rest of our food got ice cold and when it came out she brought the box to me, opened up the box to show me and proceeded to drop a piece of the pizza bread on the floor. I had to contain myself as she just stood there and said, did that just come from the box and I said yeah. She just looked at me and I took the box, because at that moment I knew it wasn't even worth it. She said oh, I guess I'll get it, as if she thought I was going to pick it up. We live 5inutes away and EVERYTHING was ice cold. The pizza bread wasn't even cooked all the way. We really wanted to like this place but the pizza didn't even have flavor when we got home. The first night we ordered the pizza was extremely good which is why we gave it another chance, was so cheese and flavorful. The second time it was bland, floppy, and barely any cheese. Sad this place can't get...
Read moreI discovered Gigi's of New York a little over 10 years ago and I've always loved the food there, but the last three times I was disappointed with the quality and amount of food on my plate. I've always ordered my absolute favorite Chicken Marsala with a side of cappellini and ricotta cheesecake for dessert. For the most part, the food was always very good, except once in a while when the usual chef was not in the kitchen. But the last three times I went there, it just kept getting worse. For one thing, the portion size has been reduced to a ridiculously small amount of chicken that resembles a child's size portion. So now they cut two very small and thin pieces of chicken breast in half to make them appear larger on the plate, which is absurd- as if I can't see what is on my plate. The portion size used to be very generous with a decent amount of chicken breast and plenty of pasta that was perfectly cooked al dente. I was never able to finish the entire entree and there were always leftovers. Now I have to eat most of the bread just to fill up since the entree is about half the size it used to be. The chicken breast pieces are now made really thin and the two pieces they serve are barely enough to feed a child. There is substantially less chicken and even a lot less pasta, which is the cheapest ingredient on the plate. The pasta was overcooked the last three times and the Marsala sauce was not nearly as good. Any decent chef in an Italian restaurant knows how to make al dente pasta- it's not rocket science. So I finally asked one of the servers if there's a different chef in the kitchen and it was confirmed that there has been a change. I had to eat two rolls last night just to fill up because my entree was too small. Even the cheesecake slices are much smaller now than they always used to be over the years. Most restaurants increase prices but they don't reduce portion sizes since people go out to eat a meal that fills them up. Whoever the new chef is, he is really cheap with a portion sizes and he is just not that good. Maybe the reduced portion sizes are only served to Groupon discount customers, but it's not any kind of deal when you save a few bucks only to get so much less food and it's cheating the customer whey they get less with a discount deal. I don't see going back there even though I have loved the food at GG's...
