Not sure if it was an isolated incident but I will never return to this restaurant. Ordered a simple take out order of calamari and a side of french fries, as I read a review they have the best calamari (I am a fan and have had it from several different restaurants) and the description for their french fries which mentioned they were "seasoned" among other things. The calamari looked like something out of the garbage as if they just threw together someone's leftovers, the portion was so small it barely filled the take out box, it was pure disappointment and they definitely didn't taste like the best calamari I've ever had. The french fries were something you could break out of a frozen food bag, not one ounce of seasoning, not even salt, and just super oily. This will be the first and last time I visit this restaurant. Not to mention the outside and inside looks so dingy, like they haven't remodeled it since they first opened 40 years ago. Here are the fries, on the menu it states "Our delicious French fries are deep-fried 'till golden brown, with a crunchy exterior and a light fluffy interior. Seasoned to perfection!" The hostess Maribelin was nice when she took my order over the phone and in person at pick up. They also sang happy birthday to a party that was seated by a couple of employees, but I would honestly feel like crying if I was celebrating my birthday here.

I would say that this is an old town style Italian restaurant and the food & service here is subpar. I came there for dinner. It was not crowded that night. When I was seated, they wiped the table but left a pair of used knifes&fork on the opposite corner of the table. They served home salad with a flat plate which results in sauces stacked and spread at the bottom which made me felt there was too much sauce everywhere in the plate. It tasted very sour at the end. While serving the salad the waitress didn't bring me a fork. And I tried very hard for a few minutes to get their attention and asked for a fork. The entrée I ordered was ravioli (Italian dumplings in tomato sauce?) with meat in it. The waiter even confirmed with me. And when I had already finished half of them, I realized there was no meat at all but cheese in those dumplings. The sauce was also tasteless which felt like the canned sauce from Walmart. At this moment I thought I didn't want to leave any tip for this meal. I called up the waitress and told her about my disappointment of this meal. Thankfully she was terribly sorry about my experience and gave me a 10% off which became the tip for this meal and leveraged this place's rating to 2/5.

We enjoyed a delicious meal and took advantage of the lunch special, saving us a few dollars. I am going to recommend lunch specials at this place to my bargain hunting friends for that reason. The food and service were both excellent. A busy lunch crowd was present and the party room in back was being used for an event at the time. It seemed like each person drove their own car and parked in that little lot outside. I recommend driving your oldest car here because parking was very tight, and we squeezed into a too-small-space. The decor is very dated inside with red and white vinyl table coverings that reminded us of that old time pizza chain we all visited decades ago. That said, the overall condition of the dining area was cleaner than average. Our first impression was seeing the oddly placed chairs at the entrance blocking the path most people would follow to the dining area. Instead, they want you to walk past the main counter. Our last impression was the enjoyment of meeting friends for a great meal. The reason we visited was the food, at our friend's suggestion. What could be better? We will be back to GG's sometime soon for more of the same.

I've been going to GG's since the mid 80's with my family and friends. We had MANY fun times there and were always treated like family. I was sad to find out that George is no longer the owner and I wish him the best in retirement, GG's will never be the same.

Tonight was the first time I've ever had a negative experience at this restaurant. Our waitress, Leticia, was let's just say not customer service friendly. We were a table of 4, 3 plus me. My friends each ordered an entree and I ordered a mini pizza. Leticia brought over a large bowl served family style of salad with 2 plates (my friend opted for soup instead of salad and my pizza doesn't come with salad). The bowl of salad was large and my friends couldn't finish what was served so I asked Leticia for an extra plate so I could have some of their salad. She asked "would you like a side salad"? I replied, no, just an extra plate so I could share the salad that was already on the table. She replied "your pizza doesn't come with a salad"... I replied "1. it's not like you have to bring any additional salad to the table and 2. with any salad not consumed it's going to be thrown out anyways" so please bring me a plate, she did but it wasn't without a fight. The salad was also served with NO dressing so my friend asked her for dressing and was given only a small cup of dressing for a large salad bowl. When we arrived the restaurant was 99% empty with only 2 other tables being occupied but it took a good 30-35 minutes for our meals to be served.

We also had 3 groupons and 3 seperate checks, the server would not let us use more than 1 even though we had 3 different checks. She said the rule is 1 per table, however, per the terms on Groupon (next paragraph) it's 1 per visit (it doesn't say per table).

While I've enjoyed eating at GG's for so many years this will be the last time I will dine there. There are many other options for italian food in the area where the wait staff make you feel welcome. To the new owners of GG's I wish you the best but please remember it's not only the food that will make your customers decide to go back, it's your staff as well. If your staff makes customers feel unwelcome they won't return, such was the feeling I received last night for the first time ever eating at GG's in...

We really wanted wanted love this place. We live 5 minutes away and I remember this place from when I was younger. The first time we got pizza my husband went in an ordered takeout. He ordered a large pizza, a small cheese, and garlic knots. He checked the box and he was given the pizza bread to which he stated he didn't order that and ordered garlic knots. They told him it was going to take 15/20 minutes to make them. He said never mind and took yhe pizza bread because he had already paid and no refund was offered. We didn't need this pizza bread as there was 3 of us and we already had a cheese. The next time weordered, 2 days ago, I ordered online. My mom was visiting and she went with me to pick it up. The hostess gave us our oder and I walked back to the car and something told me to check the boxes. This time we had ordered an xl pizza, a dozen knots and a pizza Bread. When I opened up the box it was garlic bread, garlic knots, and our pizza. I went back in as the pizza bread was for our little one at home who wouldn't have eaten the items on our pizza. I showed the hostess what was in the box and said I ordered a pizza bread and this is just garlic, she said that's what it's supposed to be. I said on your website the pizza bread has marinara and cheese. She took the box back to the kitchen and came back and said it would be ready in 5 minutes. I pulled up the menu and asked her if what I ordered was correct and was supposed to have cheese and marinara and she said yeah, she said she read the ticket wrong in the back. I proceeded to wait 10 minutes for this while the rest of our food got ice cold and when it came out she brought the box to me, opened up the box to show me and proceeded to drop a piece of the pizza bread on the floor. I had to contain myself as she just stood there and said, did that just come from the box and I said yeah. She just looked at me and I took the box, because at that moment I knew it wasn't even worth it. She said oh, I guess I'll get it, as if she thought I was going to pick it up. We live 5inutes away and EVERYTHING was ice cold. The pizza bread wasn't even cooked all the way. We really wanted to like this place but the pizza didn't even have flavor when we got home. The first night we ordered the pizza was extremely good which is why we gave it another chance, was so cheese and flavorful. The second time it was bland, floppy, and barely any cheese. Sad this place can't get...

I discovered Gigi's of New York a little over 10 years ago and I've always loved the food there, but the last three times I was disappointed with the quality and amount of food on my plate. I've always ordered my absolute favorite Chicken Marsala with a side of cappellini and ricotta cheesecake for dessert. For the most part, the food was always very good, except once in a while when the usual chef was not in the kitchen. But the last three times I went there, it just kept getting worse. For one thing, the portion size has been reduced to a ridiculously small amount of chicken that resembles a child's size portion. So now they cut two very small and thin pieces of chicken breast in half to make them appear larger on the plate, which is absurd- as if I can't see what is on my plate. The portion size used to be very generous with a decent amount of chicken breast and plenty of pasta that was perfectly cooked al dente. I was never able to finish the entire entree and there were always leftovers. Now I have to eat most of the bread just to fill up since the entree is about half the size it used to be. The chicken breast pieces are now made really thin and the two pieces they serve are barely enough to feed a child. There is substantially less chicken and even a lot less pasta, which is the cheapest ingredient on the plate. The pasta was overcooked the last three times and the Marsala sauce was not nearly as good. Any decent chef in an Italian restaurant knows how to make al dente pasta- it's not rocket science. So I finally asked one of the servers if there's a different chef in the kitchen and it was confirmed that there has been a change. I had to eat two rolls last night just to fill up because my entree was too small. Even the cheesecake slices are much smaller now than they always used to be over the years. Most restaurants increase prices but they don't reduce portion sizes since people go out to eat a meal that fills them up. Whoever the new chef is, he is really cheap with a portion sizes and he is just not that good. Maybe the reduced portion sizes are only served to Groupon discount customers, but it's not any kind of deal when you save a few bucks only to get so much less food and it's cheating the customer whey they get less with a discount deal. I don't see going back there even though I have loved the food at GG's...
