I've been coming here for years. My children insist on this place for any special occasion and their birthday. I've traveled all over China and Taiwan and have eaten all over the United States and multiple chinatowns and Chinese restaurants. This place is as good as you can get. They are serving authentic Cantonese food and I'm sure over time they've Americanized it somewhat but I still think it's as authentic as you get. For me it's always fresh and well cooked and amazing period serving sizes are great. Yes the dim sum is a somewhat small but good. There's no other restaurant that does it as good or better. Please let me address the negative reviews as I've read them all. You're here in South Florida and there is a population of people that just have terrible taste and are used to the crap cookie cutter storefront Chinese food that they're used to. It's fried rice and egg rolls and wonton soup. To be honest, they actually do a pretty good here, the basic stuff. But they do an amazing job of other basic stuff and not so basic stuff. I make it a point to try to try something new on the menu each time and I'm always amazed at how great they do everything. The place is small and crowded and the atmosphere is wonderful. The wait staff is getting as old as the store but no other place do they work as hard to make sure that your experience is as good as possible. There's a population down here that will complain about anything and nothing you can do can please them and these people who work here are saints dealing with people who don't speak their language and trying to make them happy. It's no win situation. Every restaurant's going to have a bad service or one bad meal. It's just the way of restaurants. Considering what's being served around town and the prices that they're charging, this place is giving a phenomenal service and experience and value. What do I get? Well we love to start with the congee, the house, but they're all good. We do dim sum. We try it just different things. The eggplant is amazing. It's not what you're going to get in Hong Kong but it hits the spot. Not many places serve it. We sometimes get the egg foo young which is amazing and different than the storefront restaurants. My kids love the sesame chicken. The honey chicken is also great. The shrimp and walnut with cream sauce is phenomenal. If you've never had Peking pork chops I highly recommend it. Also, they're barbecue pork and duck is great. I'll be honest, the Peking duck is not my favorite but it's as good as you're going to get around town. This last time we tried these scrambled eggs with shrimp and scallops and it is as simple as country French and just as good completely piled with seafood. They're noodles are great no matter what kind you get. They're tofu is great. They have fresh lobster and crab and tanks. I see a ton of people getting fried rice for the table. Hot tea is plentiful and free. The cost of the beer and wine is so reasonable. If you're sitting there and you aren't being helped, they're busy or possibly talking among themselves. Get your but up and tell them you're ready to order. Be reasonable, this is not a five-star restaurant. They're going to bring you your drinks and immediately want you to order. If you're not ready they're going to give you time. You're going to get oranges and fortune cookies after your meal for free and the oranges are always amazing and sweet. They've recently raised their prices and are most expensive dish I think was $24 which was the eggs. Compared to everything else out there they're still very reasonable. They serve you rice and not the BS cup of rice that most places are serving. A whole bowl for the table of plentiful rice for you like it should be and like it is in China. Authentic!Nobody's bringing around a computer to stand in front of you to watch you put a tip into an iPad. I value this place and I value the hard work that goes into making this place amazing and the hard work of all their workers and owners and I appreciate them. We actually travel from Boynton Beach...
Read moreUpdate: we returned for dinner, the Peking Duck and although they didn’t serve it w cucumber it was overall very good, and we added the soup for an additional $15. The other dishes however fell short… Egg roll: fresh but all veggies no minced pork 3.5/5 Chicken n Broccoli 3/5 Clams w black bean: had sand and not properly washed but flavor was good 3.75/5 Young chow fried rice: 2/5 no wok hai whatsoever Beef chow fun 5/5 they pull their own noodles and has wok hai Sautéed snow pea tips: 2/5 no flavor and definitely no garlic Sweet n sour pork Hong Kong style: cornstarch batter as opposed to flour, something was amiss 2.75/5 Beef w baby bok choy: good just not great 3.5/5 Egg tart: 1/5 all pastry shell with barely any custard filling…you could tell it was the last batch and they filled just enough to squeeze out another order when clearly there was not enough with pastry that is always pale and undercooked. Service was a struggle, older gentleman seemed overwhelmed. Overall the group was not impressed. It is good for select dishes only!
We haven't been here in years, but searching since Gold Marquess has closed and Baoshi is terrible.
Great service ,very attentive and the food came out timely. You can tell dishes are handmade and have an authentic flavor. I really liked the stuffed bean curd skins ... slightly different than the norm, flavorful and lighter with black fungus. Beef chow fun was very good, they pull their own noodles very fresh. Fried taro a bit small but excellent taro flavor, Pan fried turnip was excellent, with a nice crisp edge. I did not enjoy the shu mai as it was very dense and lacked flavor. Pan fried dumpling skin was too thick, sauce and filling just ok. Sesame ball a bit too doughy. Roast pork bun meh not the best not the worse...dry, not sweet or enough filling or sauce . Egg tart crust undercooked. We will be back for dinner to try the Peking duck Sat and will update...
Read moreThis place is fantastic! My Asian partner and I have eaten Chinese food all over the world, this place has some of the best food we have enjoyed in quite some time. We also love dim sum, which they do on Sundays. Out last visit there was for dim sum, we went right when they opened at 11 am, and it was some of the finest food we have had the pleasure of consuming. They do not do cart service and it is all ordered from their special menu however, they do not bring it all out at once, as has mostly been our post-covid experience, instead, you can order all of your dishes, then they bring them out a few at a time, much as it would be if they had cart service, which meant that none of it went cold while we were eating other items, we never felt rushed, and everything was hot and fresh when we ate it. It truly does make the experience a delightful one! We also love their regular menu selections, the duck is outstanding, as are the rest of their BBQ offerings. It is already a multi-visit place for us, my partner lived in this area many years ago and went there then as well. It still has the same owner and he said that the food is still as good as it was 20 years ago! We look forward to many more years of enjoying this wonderful place! I recommend it to anyone who enjoys authentic Chinese cuisine. And EARLY is always best for any...
