The Hampton Inn strives to provide a comfortable place to sleep, and succeeds. The beds were comfortable, with two different pillow thicknesses from which to choose. The bathroom was spacious, and well supplied with towels.|The room was very clean, as were the common areas such as hallways, breakfast room and food buffet, and lobby. The night front desk staff person Krystin was wonderful, as we had arrived close to 1 am; she efficiently got us arranged and into our room with a friendly demeanour and beautiful smile. Definitely a positive welcome!||Negatives: we were in room 328 on the north side, and even though the laundry room was on the ground -first- floor, one could still hear the washing machines operating. It didn't ruin our stay, but the room wasn't as quiet during the daytime as we prefer. A plus was that it did face away from Commercial Blvd and so had less traffic. |The two queen beds were very nice, but the rest of the room was empty towards the window, when an armchair would have provided a nice spot to sit. Or even better, have a nightstand on both sides of the bed, instead of only one shared table between both queen beds. This was a design flaw in our view.|In the bathroom, it would be great to have a towel bar for hanging towels in addition to the two hooks. I used a hook for a face wash cloth, so there was nowhere to hang the second towel except in the hallway.|Positives: The woman working in the breakfast area was fantastic, working very hard to keep everything filled and running well. The breakfast had a great variety, and as we stayed for four nights, we saw several varied hot food options such as vegetable or cheese omelettes, scrambled eggs with hashbrowns and other options changing virtually each day. There was also oatmeal porridge, dry cereals, gelatin free yogurt (yay!), bagels, and waffles that you make yourself. |In addition, the coffee and tea was available all day in the lobby for guests to enjoy, a much appreciated feature.|There were also a daily fresh baked cookies offered by the front desk staff at around 4 pm, another nice gesture!||We definitely do recommend...
Read moreWe always stay at Hampton Inns when we travel. They are always clean and the staff is friendly. That was the case here as well, for the most part. We had to check in around 4 am the first night, and the clerk on duty couldn't have been nicer! She was very kind and friendly. I wish I had her name to add here. We talked about her very cool glasses.
Some things to know about the location of the hotel: it's right next to a working fire station. That didn't bother us at all, as I'm from a large city, but it might be good to know for others before booking. There is also an urgent care right across the street. Luckily, we didn't need it, but having that convenience was nice.
There were a few things that weren't so great. The door on the bathroom in our room didn't latch. It closed all the way, but the handle part never actually clicked, so you couldn't lock the door.
The thing that was worst for us was being woken up every morning by housekeeping. I have never been to a hotel where housekeeping came before check out time. In this case, that's 11 am. The first night (when we arrived at 4 am) we were awoken by housekeeping knocking on the door at 9:40 am! Granted, we didn't put out our door sign because we didn't think that would happen. The day of check out, we asked for a late check out (12:30 pm). We had our sign hanging outside the door this time to be sure it wasn't an issue. Again, there was a knock at 10:30 am. Apparently they weren't told we were checking out late, which isn't their fault, but we told them we were after they knocked. Then they knocked several more times between 12 and 12:30. I understand their job, but I am also an adult who knows what time I need to check out. My sleep was already disrupted, and I was just getting everything ready to go when the knocks kept coming. I'd stay here again only if the housekeeping times/routines...
Read moreNight 1- I had a blood stain on my pillow. Front desk clerk gave me 5000 Hilton honors points and offered to get me a different hotel room. I declined the room change but accepted the points. I found the situation a little bit gross, but the issue was resolved.
Night 2- I had the Do Not Disturb tag on my door and left to use the gym. When I got back to the room I found out that the maid entered my room to clean it. In my room was my laptop with important personal information on it and my wallet (which contained my drivers license, cash and a couple of credit cards). Nothing in my room was stolen but this made me very upset because the maid could have easily taken my personal information, opening me up to identity theft. I spoke to the manager, Juanita Landreneau, about this and she said that she would review the security camera footage to see if my tag was on the door. She called me back stating that her housekeeping manager said that my tag was not on the door. I told her that I don’t remember taking the tag off and asked her to show me the security camera footage. She said that I was not allowed to see the footage and that I would have to take her word for it. During my conversations with the Juanita, I felt that she was very rude and handled this situation in an unprofessional manner.
I stay in a lot of Hilton hotels and this is the first negative review that I have ever written on one. Overall, I felt sketched out by this Hampton Inn, will not be returning and would defiantly not...
