Mission BBQ is usually the first place that we order from, when we arrive at our daughter's house in N. Myrtle each year. It's some of the best BBQ I've ever eaten and I can assure you that over the years we've been to our fair share of "BBQ joints" in a myriad of cities and states up and down the East coast. He'd never admit it, but my husband is a pretty good "home pit master" himself! That being said, we always miss their food after we get back up North and we look forward to being able to enjoy it every year when we're in N. Myrtle Beach. All of their meats are just outstanding. The brisket is melt in your mouth tender and juicy, the pulled pork (my hubby's favorite) is perfection and the smoked turkey breast is like having heaven on a plate! Their side dishes do not play second fiddle to the mains, either. I could make a meal on the cheesey potato bake, green beans and cornbread by themselves! (And I have!) I think we've tried just about everything on their menu (including their delicious sweet tea) and there hasn't been a single thing that we didn't love! They're consistent, too. The quality of the food never changes from week to week, or even year to year. And whatta-ya-know... much to our delight, we recently found out that Mission BBQ will be opening a new restaurant just under an hour away from our house! Yup. I did a full blown happy dance when I heard the news! Now... Don't get me wrong. I've dreamt about them opening a place right here in our area (And I believe that they'd do VERY VERY well here. š) but for now, it's enough that we'll be able to drive just under an hour away, instead of 14-16 hours, to get our fix of such incredibly good BBQ! Not only is their food the best thing since sliced bread, but we love Bill and Steve's "mission" as well... They wanted to honor America's military, our LEO's, Firefighters and First Responders and they do it from the heart. All in all, Mission BBQ does an incredible job of providing some of the best food that you'll ever sink your teeth into and honoring American institutions that truly deserve it! Five stars...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreExcited to have a Mission BBQ so close to us here in Myrtle Beach. My son absolutely LOVES Mission BBQ and was excited to take his girlfriend here so she could experience the food, service and atmosphere. She was not disappointed.
First, love the staff. The team members, regardless of location, are just fantastic. In this location, Gus really stood out. My son and his girlfriend were enjoying lunch and I showed up. I immediately joined them, and without hesitation, Gus engaged me and offered to get me a drink. Outstanding! He was attentive and just provided top notch customer service.
Second, the food is delicious. I always get the Pulled Pork Sandwich topped with coleslaw and two sides - "XXL Combo" in Mission BBQ lingo. I get the mac n' cheese and baked beans. Love the tanginess of the baked beans. Both are delicious. My son always gets the 3 Meat Sampler of two1/4 lb. Pulled Chickens and Chopped Brisket. His girlfriend had the chopped brisket sandwich, which is a favorite of my wife's. All of the items on the menu are excellent, so you can't go wrong. Additionally, there are six different sauces to try, so try them all! Just and FYI.... The food is so good, I brought an order home as well. Those are the pictures below.
Finally, just love the theming and the mission. Just really love that they honor our veterans and first responders. You could spend hours looking at the walls and the stories and tributes. Best part is, I have gone to many locations, and they are consistent. Phenomenal. There is indoor and outdoor seating at this location.
So if your in the area, stop on by. You will get a great meal, great service and contribute to a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe brisket and other food at Mission is excellent and always has been. But I'd like to tell you about something called "service".
I pulled up at 8:55pm on a Friday night as they were closing and ran in to ask if I could get a plate to go. They were happy to oblige. I went back to the car to get my purse, then went in to pay.
It is now about 9:05pm. The shopping complex is dark and empty. I find I have locked my keys in the car. I am a senior lady, and felt so helpless. The manager was a young man named Curtis Morton, who calmed me and assured me it was not going to be a problem and we'd get help. I can't even tell you how nice this man was.
He called the police department first and they flatly refused. They were about a half mile away, NMB was near deserted, and it would have taken them all of 10 minutes to get my car unlocked. So much for public service.
He then called 2 different locksmiths who left us hanging for over an hour each to call and say they didn't have anyone to send.
So I called the police dept again and literally pleaded with them to help. Again, refusal, but suggested I call Allen's Towing. It is now 11pm and this young man was still in his closed restaurant refusing to turn me out into the night alone.
The lady at Allen's Towing had a young man there in 15 minutes who popped open my car in another 5 minutes. Meanwhile it is after 11pm and this sweet young man has kept me safe for 2 hours past his closing time. Mission BBQ has a reputation for honoring vets and first responders. Turns out they themselves represent the best in caring service to the public as well as some of the best barbeque in the state. Mission BBQ is the best...
