My review is based on two different deliveries. Both were extremely disappointing. Our first experience, a completely different order than ours was delivered. We called to let them know, but there was nothing they could do about because they use Grubhub or DoorDash. They offered us a free coupon for the inconvenience that they would mail to us. We felt that was acceptable. Except for the fact that it was never mailed to us. So, we thought we’d give them another chance since they are a locally owned business and we like to support our local independents. More problems. After waiting for an hour for a response from the delivery service, we decide to call to ensure they received our order. Yes they received it about an hour ago, but have been so busy they just now submitted the order to the kitchen. Quite frustrating, as I know what customer service means, working in the hospitality business for almost 30 years. Our order finally arrives and we only partially received the order that was placed. So again, we didn’t get the order that we paid for. This time we were pretty irritated with the situation. Again, we call up and ask to speak with the manager on duty. We explain our situation, tell him this is the second time in a row this has happened. He offered to mail us a coupon and explained about the poor management of his store and the high turnover that it has experienced as an excuse as to why we never received our first coupon. Again, nothing mailed to us. For a local independent restaurant, I would have thought there’d been some action to make things right. We gave them a chance and they failed. We will never dine in or carry out with...
Read moreTried out the new Mama’s location in Keller today for lunch. Not impressed. The owner was there, but never engaged with customers at all. It would be beneficial to the owners to get to know the clientele, and take in feedback. I would have preferred to give my feedback directly.
For the Atmosphere: Looks nice and clean. I know this used to be No Frills - even though this has been repainted, it still really smells of cigarette smoke. Hopefully with time, the smoke smell will go away.
The Food: Lunch buffet pizzas were not very warm, tepid at best. The warmer does not seem to be functioning properly. Overhead warmers would be better. Paper plates were stationed with the pizza and salad, though you are given a plate at the register. The salad was old, rusting and some slimy pieces. (Again, really wanted to point this out to the owner, but he was only out in the dining area to pass through.) The pizza crust is delicious, which is what I focused on since the pizza was cold. On to the drink offerings: Soft drinks and tea, perfectly fine. Canned beer only. I would suggest adding taps. Much more profit for the owners to serve on tap beer, and a pitcher option like the other locations would be nice. I noticed they have wine, but being bottled, and I’m sure not turning over very quickly, will go corked quickly. We did not use the game room, but I do like that there are multiple games.
Overall, we likely won’t visit again anytime soon, to allow time to work out the kinks. I have always loved the Camp Bowie location, and none of the others seem to live up to those standards...
Read moreI went to this location on Valentine's Day. I walked in and immediately felt something was wrong. The young girl, high school age, behind the counter had obviously been crying. She shot a look at an older man who was the manager who happened to be sitting down at a table. The manager then yells at her not to stare at him. I am of course very uncomfortable with this. The young lady then says I'm not staring at you I was wondering if I could go home. And the manager says that he was just thinking about sending her home. It was clear they had some sort of fight just before I walked in. When I saw her again she was visibly still upset and crying. She then left the store. Even though I was uncomfortable and did not want to stay and eat my pizza there, I thought I'll just eat very fast and get out of here. I wish I had left when the young employee left. Another young male, high school age, employee was about to get off work and he was talking about his plans for Valentine's Day with his girlfriend. I was sitting at a table by the door for a quick exit. As the young male employee was walking towards the door, the older male manager said loudly across the room, "Just remember whatever she does, I can do better". I was shocked and disgusted to hear a male manager openly say that to his male high school aged employee. That is completely inappropriate. If an older man talked to my son in that way, let's just say we would have a problem. So while their pizza is good I don't want to support such a toxic and evil work...
