Egg Haven Cafe — Restaurant in Hurst

I've eaten at the egg Haven Cafe several times now. The first time I ordered the food was perfect, way above average. They even provided corn tortillas as a substitute for the flour tortillas, displayed on the menu. I greatly appreciated that, because I cannot eat the flour tortillas.

The salsa is very good, I believe they make it fresh, very tasty. The eggs are always done, really to perfection, no burnt stuff on the eggs, veggies are done.

The rub or the problem that I have now, with egg haven cafe, is the fact that they cannot follow instructions. They followed some of the instructions like, they didn't give me sour cream, thankfully. They did however give me flour tortillas, which I had to throw in the trash. Migas traditionally has corn tortilla strips on the top, which I don't care for, and generally, migas has a lot of peppers.

My instructions were simple, and clear. I asked for no corn tortilla strips, and I asked for easy on the peppers. My order was loaded with peppers, and covered with corn tortilla strips. Now my pet peeve with any restaurant, is the fact that they cannot follow instructions.

so I called the restaurant, and asked to speak to the manager. The person who answered the phone which I will not name, asked if he could help. I asked him if he was the manager. His response was well, I guess I'm the manager today. When I told him the order was made incorrectly, he didn't offer to replace it, he didn't offer to refund my money, he simply said he hoped I would come in and try them again.

There are plenty of places to eat in this town, so what do you think I will do?

Now I will say once again, the food, on average, is very good. If you order off the menu with no special instructions, you will probably enjoy eating at egg Haven Cafe. If you use a delivery service like Uber eats, or DoorDash, don't plan on having your special instructions followed.

If you're here in Hurst Texas, I would suggest brookside Cafe, as they can follow instructions, or IHOP. Brookside Cafe is a locally owned mom and pop restaurant, and I like to support the locals.

I will probably try egg Haven Cafe in a few months, again, but generally when there's an issue it's a management problem. So, maybe tomorrow, there will be a different manager. Until they have a manager that can act as a manager, I probably won't eat there again.

I was really excited to try this place out. I graduated from culinary school and have helped run more than a few restaurants. This experience is one I hope no one has to repeat. First they tried to sit us separately from the rest of the crowd, that was corrected immediately. Once we were seated the waitress was very nice. We ordered chicken skillet, avocado toast, veggie skillet and stuffed French toast. Nothing we ordered had pork in it according to the menu. Because of my medical issues I am not able to digest pork or any kind of red meat. My chicken skillet had ham in it so I sent it back. The veggie skillet had ham in it so we sent that back. We were told that the avocados were hard so they weren’t serving anything with avocado in it. A manager, Ben, was sent over and he was very rude, almost annoyed at us because we sent the food back. He offered to have the food remade without the eggs. We explained that the eggs weren’t the problem the chunks of ham were. He said okay then bought the plates back without the eggs. I asked for to go boxes but he walked away never returning with the to go boxes. Our waitress Evette ending up bringing them. Despite all the mistakes she was very nice and understanding. Needless to say I will never come back. The mistakes with the food could have been forgiven but the managers attitude and how he handled the situation will always be at the...

8/31/25 I came back by myself. Couldn’t help it. I got Riley again! 8/30/25 I am enjoying this restaurant so much I brought a friend this morning! We loved it as usual! Cera was our waitress! She is on top of her game! She’s really good! She makes sure you are enjoying your experience and brings your food right when it’s ready! I tried writing a separate review for her but Google only allows 1 review per customer. I am editing this one because Cera deserves the spotlight, too! She’s also a star employee! I’m so grateful to have a breakfast place I love to go to now! I’m thinking this is my weekend favorite! Thank you for such great service and food!
