I have seen this place on my way to work for some month. My husband finally decided to treat the family. We knew it would come with a price tag since it is a seafood place. Before going I read many bad reviews so we were about to go to La Marea instead but decided might as well give it a try.
Yes. If you have food allergies this is not the place to go. They have a large variety of dishes but food contamination is a huge possibility.
We started of with the Queso Fundido and a Sushi Roll. I did not expect the roll to be warm and the soy sauce has lemon in it. My son and I laughed about how it is a Mexican Sushi roll since we put lemon on EVERYTHING… lol.
My husband had been recommended the Filete Especial. He loved it. Not a single bite was left on the plate. I ordered the Mojarra Frita which was very well seasoned and perfectly fried. I never eat the salad or the rice so I am not sure how those were. My son had the bacon stuffed tilapia filet, which he loved.
There was live music. The Mariachi band was very nice and played our song.
Dessert was amazing, we shared as it came with 6 churros and a giant scoop of ice cream.
FYI- This is not an Americanized Mexican Sea Food Place. It is a Sinaloa Style Mexican Sea Food Place. The seasoning reminded me of the trips with my dad...
Read moreMy family of four was very excited to try the new local seafood restraunt close to our home. Walking in the food smelled great, unfortunately, I have a shellfish allergy, and knew immediately that I probably shouldn't eat here. All the same, the rest of my family enjoy seafood and I usually order catfish, or an alternative dish of some sort. There were very little options for an alternative meal. I was actually considering branching out and trying salon, tilapia, tuna, marlin, etc Most of the dishes remained paired with a shellfish.
The menu is extremely pricey as one might expect from a seafood restraunt like Pappadeux. I understand the price of inflation but this would be like paying Pappadeux prices at Applebee's. We decided to leave as $20-$35 a plate was a bit expensive for something that we were not interested in eating. A lot of the menu is shrimp, octopus, crab, with some steak or carne asada choices.
We ordered tea initially as our beverages, there is only sweet tea which is not diabetic friendly. The cost of 4 teas for two seniors, adult, and child was $16 plus tax. This is insane.
Service was friendly. Food looked good, my mom said the hot sauce was great. Chips were oily.
Best of luck to this restraunt, unfortunately other places in this location have...
Read moreThis is a recently opened restaurant. A look at the menu led me to believe there was more to be expected than what I experienced. I would describe it as a South of the border seafood restaurant. There were a number of dishes that seemed out of the main stream. It was about 7:30-7:45 on a Tuesday evening. There was maybe 4-6 patrons at the time. When entering at first I thought the place was closed (there was a table with chairs on top in one corner). It took a while for staff to come to the table for drink order (water). Then took several more minutes just for the water to show up. Several more minutes passed before the order was taken. Fish tacos were ordered. Outside of the Chipotle sauce & the pico brought with salsa & chips the taco was pretty bland. The fish pieces were big enough to make it difficult to eat with the small, soft corn taco shells. Again, it took a while to finally get the check. Given there was so few customers in the business (to be fair probable 8 more people came in after I arrived) nobody seemed to be in much of a hurry for anything. Maybe staff is still being trained. Maybe it was just an off night so I would say give it another chance, but did not make a good...
