This place is absolutely incredible! My partner and I went a few weeks ago, and the place was phenomenal. The atmosphere is so gorgeous and relaxing, and the friendly staff just brings a peace about the whole place. The plants, sunlight, and decor definitely add an ambience that can’t be competed with in the mid-cities. The appetizers were amazing, the cocktails were delicious, the wine list was impressive, and the entrees…. Perfection. The day we went, the manager helped us. He walked us through the menu and people’s favorite plates, we discussed the wines and cocktails, and we also had just a genuinely good exchange with him. The entire experience was wonderful, from the friendly, welcoming hostess, to the other very courteous and attentive waitstaff, to the manager, cooks, and bartender, and needless to say, the spectacular food. Our experience truly was stellar and we can’t wait to go back. In fact, I think we’ll be back with friends this weekend.
Update: So I went back last night, and then again this afternoon, and have a date set for next week as well, so I think it’s safe to say that V’s House is my new addiction. I wanted to name some of the items and people that have truly blown my mind. The Thai Beef Noodle Soup has the most beautiful, multi-layered flavorful broth with an incredible aroma of lemongrass, fresh cilantro, and rich beef taste. The meat itself was so juicy and tender and the vegetables were top notch quality. The Banh Khot and Banh Xeo are the same dish, but with a slightly different presentation and texture; I cannot stress enough how delectable both of these dishes are. The vegetables are cooked to perfection and the crepes have the most crisp crust on them. The toasted crab bread speaks for itself, and so do the other reviews. The ceviche took the cake last night. When places say that the fish should speak for itself, this is what I expect. Fish bursting with flavor, fresh jalepeno, served in a bowl with lime dressed onions and cilantro. The Hawaiian poke salad was fantastic; the same flavorful fish, a hint of spice in the sauce, with a seaweed salad and spiral julienned cucumbers. We had coffees and beignets for dessert. Our waitress Priscilla was fantastic and made amazing recommendations throughout the meal, and Camille took over at dessert and recommended the Brown Sugar series Crème Brûlée Boba with a shot of espresso - it’s sinfully delicious. This afternoon, my partner, friend, and I got a passionfruit tea, the BS Crème Brûlée Boba, and a BS series Mudslide boba with jellies. These drinks are easily a replacement for your favorite coffee shop. Both our waitresses, and the rest of the waitstaff were all just the loveliest people you’ll find in the Mid-cities. There isn’t better service anywhere. The manager Lance is a treasure. I literally just cannot rave enough about this spot. Give V’s House a chance to impress you, and you won’t leave...
Read moreI was expecting the bistro vibe from the pics of the interior I've seen but didn't quite get that. The bahn khot was over cooked so I asked them to remake it and it basically came out the same. The pho broth is good but the noodles was over cooked which I had to also ask them to remake. I would've came back go try the food again but who ever the manager was today needs a reality check. He sat at my table uninvited uninvited explain to me that different families make it differently,UNINVITED. He tried to give me a culture explanation and I didn't argue. He said that he's eaten at the Vu's for 10 yrs and is so proud of that so it makes him an expert. Ok, I've been cooking this and eating it my entire life - does that make me a expert too? I think not..but I know that bahn khot is similar to bahn xeo and the bahn xeo should be chrispy but this khot should have a slight crisp not full. Also it is extremely thin and the shrimp is not cooked into it so its not even the same. He wants to argue that and so I brought up a picture from. Google that shows that there should be a distinct color of yellow on the plate but yeah no... he sat at my table again. Upon bringing out the remake, he tends to give me more justification on it and I told him that it would have to be sent back. He said "I'm trying to work with you". Ok but look dude , I'm the customer - if is not good or doesn't look correct then I'm sending it back and I don't want it. You don't need to tell me that "you're working with me".I don't need to hear about hoq you've eaten at vietnamese restaurants in Houston close to your logistics place. COME ON! Then I hear him explain to the table behind me that V's house is like everyone's own personal Cheers.. yeah I don't think so. Then he came back to ask if the noodles were still good bc I sent things back and I only ordered the 2 things. He made sure to tell the tables behind me about how sjpt staffed they were and how they send him stuff who have been in contact with COVID. Dude if you're so concerned about it then maybe have your staff wear mask? I need justifications on why things aren't right or why it doesn't doesn't right - I came to have lunch and not for a story time. They do not serve pho the usual way with all the side toppings and you have to ask for housin and Sriracha. For a vietnamese place, they don't Even have the staples so I don't...
Read moreI’m not usually the type to write reviews, but I was so excited to visit this place and I was so disappointed. We’ve driven by this place talking about how we wanted to go, so we finally decided to stop by on date night.
I called ahead to get on the waitlist, and was told it would be approximately 40 minutes, but when the hostess called 10 minutes later to tell us our table was ready, we hadn’t even left the house yet, as we live only 5 minutes away. If it had been only that, I would have more than happy to let it go, it happens. But when we arrived, we waited for 20 minutes before waters were brought to our table (by the hostess), an additional 10 minutes before silverware was brought out (also hostess), and then ANOTHER 10 minutes before our server even came by to take our drink order.
By the time our appetizer arrived we had been sitting for an hour already. The table next to us was sat only minutes before us but seemingly in a different section, as they had another server. But they received drinks, appetizer, and her almost done with their entrees by the time our drinks hit the table.
I was so sad that the service was so bad, because the food and drinks were delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful, but having to wait so long just for my order to be taken is so disappointing. When our server did come to our table it seemed like there had been some confusion about whether or not we were her table, even though she had walked past us multiple times and made eye contact with me and my partner.
Our server never stopped to speak to us after she took our order, only walk past spitting out a quick “I’ll be right back to (xyz)” as she hurried to help another table.
I’ve worked in customer service for my whole life, and still do. I’m always more than happy to be patient and understanding, but I felt so completely ignored. It was already slammed, so I didn’t want to make a scene or slow anything down by asking for a manager. Food was great though, I guess we’ll just get takeout next time. So...
