This has to be the best restaurant in East Chicago. From the outside of the building I never would have suspected. It looks like a small unassuming building, but then you walk in and it feels a lot bigger on the inside and it's fancy and warm and nice. Everything we ordered had so much flavor and the portions were enormous! The table bread came with roasted garlic, a very nice touch. The saganaki tasted like it had additional sweetener beyond just the brandy and it didn't arrive flaming, but it was delicious. The asparagus was very tasty. I had a mushroom penne special that was rich and creamy. My friend ordered the pork chops and I have to say that was the biggest, juiciest pair of pork chops I have ever seen. They were so thick, at least 2.5 inches. They were twice as thick as the thickest pork chops I have ever had previously, and cooked to perfection. There was no printed drinks list and the waitress claimed to know what beers they had but kept not knowing about beers I had seen when I walked past the cooler by the bar, so I ended up having to walk by the bar to browse the selection each time I wanted another beer, but that just gave me a chance to enjoy the restaurants decor. She said they didn't need a printed list cuz they had an open bar and could make any cocktail but then had never heard of a Manhattan or a Sazerac. Either way, definitely the best restaurant I've discovered so far in the area and I will be returning often. Thank you for giving me such...

I love the food and the wait staff at Keith's and was more than comfortable with entrusting them as the venue for a special dinner with me and my new (very promising) love interest. The reservationist was seasoned enough to inquire if it would be a special occasion, and it was for both of us.
We arrived for our reservations and she'd reserved the coziest and most romantic table in the house! Rebecca was our waitress for the evening, she is so patient and pleasant, she got us started with drinks. She recommended the appletini for me and my guy had a top shelf vodka cranberry. Rebecca proceeded in the same pleasantly polished fashion from appetizers to the entrees. My caprese salad was delicious and my guy had the shrimp cocktail that was fresh and delicious as well. His entree was the surf and turf, and I had the biggest steak I'd ever laid eyes on. He raved about the lobster being the best he'd ever had. We both absolutely adored our entire dinning experience last night. THANK YOU, Rebecca, for your excellent service and for making our very first date a night to remember. It truly couldnt have been any better.
The Comfort Prince was so empressesd, he said we will be back for our one year...
Read moreWe've been here 3 times now and it's been very mixed experiences. Our first visit was wonderful. Great food, great service. Second time, exact same food, not as good. The service was OVER enthusiastic (think every time you sipped your water, the water boy refilled it. EVERY TIME.) They tried to take my husband's food while he was still chewing! It seemed like the employees had just been yelled at for too much standing around and they went to the extreme. It was actually kind of stressful. Last night, we went for a third time. They started on the over service again, but when friends showed up, they slowed down. Food was okay but nothing fabulous.
Positives: food is pretty good. They start you with a mixed bread bowl and roasted garlic. We were the last people in there last night, and they never hurried us out.
downsides: you walked in by the bathrooms/kitchen/bar so you feel like there's no front door. $20-$30 per entree. over enthusiastic service. Our corner table wobbled every time someone walked by, making it more obvious when someone did.
Keith's is the fine dining establishment in Whiting. As they have a corner on the market, I don't see...
