McAlister's is a chain of restaurants specializing in sandwiches. This review pertains to the Lime Kiln Lane location in Louisville.
We've been occasional customers of this restaurant for a number of years and have found the service and food quality consistently good.
The menu offers a good selection of sandwich options and side dishes including soups, salads and desserts. A variety of baked potato varieties a leading feature. Some potato dishes are a complete meal. The iced tea, sweet or unsweetened, is better than most others.
Orders are placed at the counter and staff then brings the food to the table. They also clear the tables when you leave. Outdoor seating is available all year on the sidewalk adjacent to the building. Carry-out service is available and popular.
Kid friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and casual. The facility well maintained and clean, including the restrooms. The entire facility is wheelchair accessible.
Free parking lot is shared with other businesses, convenient parking places usually available nearby.
Groups of modest size are accommodated, no reservations or reserved seating. Can be crowded at times of peak demand.
Cash, credit and debit cards accepted.

I placed my order via the app for table side service. App stated approximate 25 minute wait, which was perfectly fine especially seeing it was during the church rush/lunch rush.
When our food was brought to the table it was not fresh. Specifically, I ordered a choose 2 with a southwest sandwich and ultimate nachos with chicken but without olives. The cook added bacon on the sandwich and the chili for the nachos were as cold as ice, also no extra chicken on the nachos like requested and paid for. I immediately took my plate back to the front counter and told them my complaint. The cashier let them know what was wrong and the cook got mad, opened my sandwich to see what was wrong with it then threw it back on the plate saying “it’s cheese, not bacon” and how he wasn’t fixing anything over.
The sandwich had multiple slices of bacon on it. No cheese ever will be that dark and cheese melts. Bacon does not. Instead of correcting my order they (the manager on duty and the cook) left it sitting in the window.
I requested a refund seeing that my order wasn’t going to be corrected and was only...
Read moreI gave one star, only because I don't know how to give zero or fewer stars. This was by far the most bizarre meal I've ever been a part of. It started out with a normal order of food for two...followed by a 45 minute wait...culminating in our food having to be remade because it was never brought out to us, but shuffled around the restaurant ending up right where it started...cold, lonely, and slightly depressed...the final course was the highlight of the meal where I had the most unsettling one sided conversation with the manager of the establishment..."here's your food, I'm so sorry." I'm skipping a bit because there are parts here that couldn't be agreed upon, meaning or content wise...the end of the conversation was simply the manager saying, "...and I heard that they use their food as a toilet." That marked the end of our comped meal, and we decided to just be done. The sevice was bad, but if you're not really hungry, I feel like you could at least be entertained if...
