This restaurant is located in the heart of trendy, downtown Northville. 160 Main is open, airy, has tons of natural light, and 2-story ceilings. The decor is chic, elegant, clean, ans rustic. While my husband and I waited for our table, we had a drink at the bar. The bartender was very friendly, as were the many locals sitting around the bar engaging in conversation. There was a nice and inviting vibe in this restaurant. When my husband and I were seated, our server greeted us with the upmost professionalism. He was very courteous and knowledgable of the menu. He served warm, rustic, Sicilian bread with a side of amoigu sauce that he didn't hesitate to replenish. Delicious sauce, btw. I ordered the 4 course tasting menu (changes weekly) which did not disappoint nor leave me hungry. Salad with cured meat and parmesan, pasta pomodoro with huge shrimp, rosemary sea bass filet (👌) with a side of green beans, and a lemon dessert similar to a tiramisu. Each course was better than the last. It was fresh, flavorful, and you can tell alot of heart and pride went into making each dish. They weren't just filling tickets. My husband opted for 2 pounds of crab legs (which is one of the many chef specials) after enjoying a colossal shrimp cocktail appetizer and a caesar salad. The server also brought him a complimentary side of grilled vegetables as he was tearing through the crab legs. After feasting, we enjoyed 2 LARGE cappuccinos that were perfection! And since I was enjoying dessert as part of my meal, my drooling husband was served a raspberry pan a cott a compliments of the house. I'm telling you.... the experience was GREAT! You're getting authentic high-end Sicilian cuisine in a beautiful restaurant with an inviting vibe and being served by a very professional wait staff. You can't go wrong with 160 Main and it definitely surpassed my expectations and has become one of my favorite restaurants.
Btw, our server was Javier and he...
Read moreI've been wanting to eat at 160 Main ever since I moved to Northville but haven't made time. Went this past weekend as a date with my fiancée. Definitely let down by my expectations, but honestly this place oversell what it actually is.
For starters, the place is priced like a fine Italian dining establishment but they allow the noise level to get so high it seemed like a honky tonk dive bar. I could not hear my fiancée talk and could barely hear our server.
Next, the food is far lower par than what you're paying. I paid over $150 for 3 dishes, all of which were questionable. Very low grade calamari, frozen patties of veal, and a 2x4x1 inch lasagna.
In terms of service our waitress was very helpful, but her pairing of the wine I asked for seemed made up on the spot and did not get me items I asked for after food was delivered.
Part of the problem here is Northville itself. You got one family owning over a quarter of the business district and charging outrageous rent just to run a restaurant. Then they push all those costs onto customers.
The short version of all this is: only the rich can afford to eat here and not care about its shortcomings. If you want a filling and genuinely good Italian dinner, you're better off at Cantoro's...or hell even Buca di Peppo. Avoid 160 Main unless you've got $100 bills falling...
Read moreMy wife and I have eaten at 160 Main twice and everything about the restaurant and the meals was Five Star. It was a perfect choice for celebrating my wife's birthday and, the second time, for Valentine's Day.
I called in a voicemail minutes ago to leave a very specific compliment for management about our server because even five days later I'm still thinking about the perfect service.
Sounds weird, right? Continue reading...
My wife ordered filet mignon medium and it was delicious. At the end of the meal the server was packing our leftovers in the back, away from the table. A couple minutes later he returned to the table and said he wanted to apologize. He noticed the steak was medium rare but should have been, as my wife ordered, medium. The server was correct but it was inconsequential to us. It was a great steak.
But, the server had already talked to management about it and they offered a complimentary dessert. Not only did we make no complaint whatsoever or even hint at one, our server recalled the order from the beginning of the meal, and determined that steak did not meet his standards for a perfect meal. Amazing.
Oh, the panna cotta...
