I like this brewery, both the vibe and the beer. I don't like being rushed to chug a high alcohol content beer because my reservation is coming to an end. Most breweries I've been to have not been enforcing the 90 minute COVID reservation time, so when my reservation at Castle Island had 10 minutes left and they brought me another Hi-Def, I assumed I would be given a reasonable time to finish it. I was asked to leave when the 10 minutes was up, quickly finishing my beer in a way that brought my BAC to an unsafe level. And since I was expected to leave, I had no where to go except to my car to drive. I ended up sitting in the parking lot for a half hour to sober up. Most bars won't serve a drink within 30 minutes of closing to avoid exactly this issue, but I guess Castle Island is more interested in the money. I also don't like the default 10% tip Castle Island attempts to include for pickup orders. Servers and bartenders get tipped because their wages are less than minimum wage. Read moreVery cool place, solid beer cool atmosphere. Very rude about closing. Hung out here on Saturday night for about 3 hours. It hits 9 o'clock and the lights come on, music shuts off. 9:15 rolls around and we are told last call is in 15 minutes and we have until 10 to finish our beer. Totally understandable. 9:25 rolls around and last call is yelled. Hmm ok fine. At 9:50 we are finishing our last sips and a woman comes to let us know that we have 2 minutes to finish our beer... not 10 o'clock, but alright we get the hint. At 10 the remaining groups of people who are all wrapping up are rudely kicked out by staff. I understand that there are closing procedures that need to be done etc. I work at a bar, I know how it goes. However, an extra 5 or 10 minutes of letting people wrap up their drinks and conversation would have made us feel more welcomed, and more likely to return. If you want to close at 9, close at 9! Then we emailed back and forth approximately 4 times. I did not get a response for 4 days at which point I emailed again. The next day,I still not get a reply, so I emailed her, let her a voicemail, and called the brewery. She then answered my email about 4 hours later (5 days since my original communication) and gave me limited information. I was asking for explicit information regarding cost. Instead of answering my questions she attached a brochure to an email that shared there’s a minimum, tip, tax, booking fee, and admin fee. When initially emailing she only informed me of the minimum. I responded to this email with follow up questions 10 minutes after her emailing me. I did not receive a response.
