I had a super awkward and frustrating experience here with friends and family when we ended up visiting on a random Sunday for lunch... Let me also preface this by saying that it pains me to leave bad reviews because I used to work in the restaurant business as well and understand that it's not an easy job. The strangeness started when we seated and went to look for our orders, we were immediately asked two times within 5 minutes by the same waitress if we were ready to look at our orders and we both had to say that we needed some more time with the menu because we were coming with kids who are getting settled and we didn't get a chance to look at the menu, which elicited an eye roll and a huff and puff from our waitress. When we got to placing our orders, I tried asking our server about most popular dishes and or any suggestions and she very quickly waved off the question and interrupted me by saying that everything was good without specifically offering any particular dish to help answer my question. I asked three times in various ways for a specific dish that might be interesting for us to try and she again offered the exact same answer as if I didn't hear it the first time. So that's fine, I chose based on a combination of randomness and how interesting the name of the sushi roll sounded. When the food ended up coming out, we were short a sushi roll order as well. I gave it some time for the orders to roll out and basically everyone at the table got their order except for us and when I asked about the status of the extra roll she told me that nothing was placed, despite the 2 to 3 minute fiasco about fishing for a recommendation. I was okay with placing the same order about 30 minutes into our lunch, and the sushi roll ended up coming out quite soon after. The food itself though, was quite disappointing and a little bland despite carrying hefty prices for small to medium sized sushi rolls. When we went to pay our bill, we had to look around for a waiter to offer us the check, which required another five minutes for someone to come out from the back to notice our table looking around. I can't remember the exact bill but it ended up being a little over $50 and probably closer to $80, and for such disappointing service and food, I left about $5 in tip which is absolutely not a good tip but a baseline considering how our experience went. As we were leaving the restaurant and buckling in our little one into a car seat, we were surprised to find our waitress flagging us down and walking up next to us in the parking lot with our bill in hand asking if we were Asian (I kid you not), and asking about us increasing the tip for the service she provided which was shocking for how pushy, dismissive, then absent she was during our meal. You be the judge, it's not great leaving such a poor tip nor a poor comment, but there really needs to be justification to get to the 18%+ tip or good reviews that are often expected at establishments, but this felt regrettably necessary. If you're going to come here, it seems like the hibachi is the way to go based on reviews (which we did not get to try), not a...
Read moreHonestly the food is fantastic! Some of the best sushi I've ever had. The service however was some of the worst I've ever had. From start to finish: host asks what he can help me with while speaking to another customer, I answer and he just goes back to his conversation with the other customer (which I never would have expected him to interrupt in the first place); waitress doesn't bring a drink menu; waitress asks 4 times if we're ready to order drinks; waitress doesn't know sake comes in carafe, says it comes in a cup; waitress doesn't bring sake cups, have to ask bartender for them; waitress asks at least 4 times if we're ready to order food while our menus are still open in front of us; waitress forgets soy sauce dishes for sushi; waitress asks if she can drop the bill 3+ times while we're clearly still eating; waitress asks if the bill is all set while we're still eating at which point we gave her a credit card so she would hopefully leave us alone for more than 5 minutes; gets close to closing time, staff starts mopping around our table instead of politely mentioning the time, I almost slip and fall on my way out of the restaurant, no wet floor signs. I'm going to give this place another shot since, as I mentioned, the sushi was incredible, but if the service matches my first experience I really can't recommend this restaurant to...
Read moreThis is my first review for this place I should’ve written one along time ago and I will NOT be back here ! It’s always something !!! YESTERDAY the waiter OVER charged my card & my friends card !!! It was 3 of us and we all had to pay 75 BUT SHE CHARGED me $129 and my friend $150(2TIMES) !!!!! Which means the money was already taken out my card ! Then she VOIDED the transaction but charged my friends card ANOTHER $150 which means she took an extra 300 & we STILL had to pay AGAIN. So in total I paid $204 and my friend paid $300 !!!!!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND she assumed because everyone at the table was BLACK that we were ALTOGETHER (i only came w. Two friends we didn’t know everyone else BUT WHO DOES THAT??!?) also we waited 40 mins to be served!! We asked for water and she never gave us any.
ALSOOOOO ANOTHER time (another incident that happened on a diff day) the waiter practically begged us for MORE TIPS & I asked her if she asked the white folks across from us because we didn’t see her asking them for tips!!!!!! We had already paid her for tips (it was 3 of us so she got a good amount b/c WE ALL TIPPED HER ) but she asked us for EXTRA tips… so saddd!!!!! …ALLL IN ALL I used to love this place but they cater to lighter skin folks & make so many mistakes !!! We WILL NOT BE BACK !!!!!!!!!!...
