We tried Jorge’s yesterday for the first time, all around food and everything was great but the SERVICE was so abysmal that we’re not sure we’d come back.
We came to Jorge’s off a recommendation and was greeted at the door by Luis Jorge himself! Super friendly, and we chatted it up for a little bit after we sat down. Had a great feeling about this place and high hopes.
Now starts the snowball of bad service. We ended up coming during happy hour. Our server came over and took our orders without writing anything down or repeating it. Some people can definitely do that but our server was not one. We asked for queso (on happy hour) and it didn’t come out until AFTER all our food did and after WE had to initiate asking where it was to which she responded “it’s coming”. But I’m pretty sure she forgot about it and rang it in right after.
Our friend asked for the pollo asada tacos on happy hour and when she got her plate she noticed it was carne. She politely brought it up to our server and instead of owning up for her mistake the server repeatedly told her “well I heard carne asada” in an irritated, blaming my friend tone and said “well it’s gonna take a while to remake is that ok” .. not sure we had any other choice. The food took another 15-20 to refire which I’m not sure why since it was our servers oversight the food wasn’t right to begin with so should have been prioritized in the queue.
We waited for our friends food to come out to finish the rest of ours. Once it did, it also came with cotija and cilantro, the two things our friend had requested to be left off. At this point we waited so long we didn’t want to deal with waiting again.
Come time to pay we notice she charged us full price for queso vs happy hour. When we again politely bring it up she tells us it’s not on happy hour but she’ll check and we promptly pointed at the happy hour menu on the table where it said queso $6. As she was walking away to correct our bills she said “I was supposed to leave 2 hours ago”
I used to be in the restaurant industry, so I completely understand mistakes happen and we’re very understanding.
But this girl just one after another wouldn’t take any real responsibility or accountability for how poor her service was and that got to be really irritating very quickly to all of us. Mind you, it was only 3 of us ordering a few things off happy hour it was not complicated. Why would you opt to tell the customer you were supposed to leave as if that was supposed to justify the extreme low bar of service we were getting?
Normally I won’t write bad reviews but she totally ruined our experience of this restaurant that we’re not sure if we’d return, and definitely would NEVER be sat in her section ever again. A shame because I really liked meeting Luis and supporting a new local...
Read moreThe place doesn't have a liquor license so if you want Alcohol you have to buy outside, not a big deal since I don't buy Alcohol.
The ambiance was typical Mexican vibe. The tables inside were fine.
We started with the nachos with Carne asada. They came out in a takeout container so the nachos were a little soggy. The olives were canned and the sauce tasted like it may be canned as well. The carne asada was OK, nothing great. All in all the nachos were 3 stars.
I ordered the blackened ahi taco which came out as one peice of ahi smothered in a creama sauce that overpowered the fish. Then the taco itself was just a store bought one and not heated up or jazzed up in any way. For the money it wasn't great. 3 stars
My wife got the beer battered fish taco, came out with a lit of batter and not alot of fish, the same shell and overpowered sauce.
The quesadilla came out and was the best thing we had. A little greasy buy good Flavor.
The fact that the server asked us if she could move the nachos when the entree came out and we said yes, to make room, then she took them away (to dispose of) despite us only eating half of them takes a star away. By the time she took them we were amazed that she thought we were done, but its not her fault because we closed the lid and she had no way of knowing we barely ate a quarter of them. There went 10...
Read moreDuring my visit to the bar with friends, I unfortunately encountered a distressing situation. One of the customers, an elderly white man, directed racial slurs towards me, including the highly offensive N-word with a hard R. This continued for an extended period of over an hour and a half, causing significant discomfort. I remained composed and politely asked him to stop, but he responded with a disturbing comment, stating that he used to, “slit their necks, throwing them in the water and using them as fish bate” towards people of my background.
In light of this distressing incident, I promptly alerted the staff, hoping for their support and intervention. However, to my disappointment, they dismissed the seriousness of the situation. They informed me that the individual responsible is a regular customer and deemed him harmless due to his generous tipping habits. Shockingly, they conveyed their unwillingness to take any action against him.
I believe it is essential for establishments to prioritize the safety and well-being of all their patrons. Instances of racial slurs and threats should never be tolerated, and appropriate measures should be taken to address such behavior. It is disheartening that the staff's response fell short, as it undermines the inclusive and welcoming environment that should be cultivated in any...
