Blackberry Market was too good not to leave a review. I even visited a second time while I was in town so I could have more to rave about.
My husband and I own a coffee business, so whenever we travel we look for good spots. We couldn’t find any great-looking coffee roasters close to our hotel, but we saw some latte art pics from Blackberry and decided to give them a try since we also wanted breakfast.
We were greeted immediately and given recommendations as we perused the menu, baked goods case, and grab-and-go cooler. I saw their seasonal menu included a blueberry basil house made syrup – a must try for me. I wanted my morning espresso though, so I was excited they were happy to make me a latte with that instead of the matcha (which I ended up trying the next day!); both drinks were delicious. Love how they use Intelligensia, a local coffee roaster.
With markets or cafes like this, it’s usually hard to get the food and the coffee right at the same time. Blackberry gets it done! You can tell they pay special attention to the quality of both, which is what makes them a whopping 5-stars from me (on top of the spacious, clean, colorful atmosphere!)
The farmhouse breakfast is a great deal. Their homemade biscuits are fluffy with just the right amount of salt, perfectly balanced with their blackberry jam. I ordered one by itself on my second visit. The avocado toast was fresh and tasty, but I was glad I had the biscuit in addition to fill me up.
We also tried some of their treats: Nutella bar, chocolate croissant, cinnamon bun, and chocolate chip cookie. All were good but my favorite was the Nutella bar which had a nice crunch to it and allowed for a convenient snack during our conference.
This place deserves more attention! They have a couple other local locations, but this one is only a few months old – pay them and their abundantly friendly staff a visit as soon as you can. You won’t be...
Read moreI was meeting up with a friend at the game center next door and was running late, so he was the one who told me that this place had the best coffee he's ever had. I thought for sure it was an exaggeration, but when I tried his vanilla latte there truly was something different about it that just hit different. I opted to go for a drink after our game time, and I was lucky enough to pop in when there wasn't a crowd (apparently my friend did have to wait for a while for his drink). I was little confused when I walked in because I wasn't sure if I had to order drinks at the bar near the barista or the register at the front (it kinda looked like it might only be for food?), but thankfully the employee saw I was a little confused and called out to me. They and the barista were very sweet. The barista even offered to sweeten my honey lavender latte more if it wasn't to my taste. I took her up on her offer, and when I brought the drink back to my friend, he got jealous that he didn't order that instead. We left to go somewhere else for food, so can't speak to their other menu items, but the interior design is super cute! Plenty of seating, with bar stools right in front of the...
Read moreLove a cute cafe where I can sit solo or nosh with a friend or 2.
Recently visited and there is ample parking since it’s in a strip mall area across from Oakbrook Center. They have a lot of seating and at the time of my visit (mid afternoon on a weekday) there were quite a few people working remotely and small groups of people just eating and visiting.
Staff was nice and let me peruse the bakery area and sides. I tried a strawberry and cream scone as well as a market trio, and a ham and cheese croissant. I love they serve breakfast all day and being able to order 3 sides in a set fills my randomness heart.
The scone was pretty tasty, not too dry, and not too sweet. The 3 sides I got were the chicken salad, BLT Caesar pasta, and Green Goddess Veggies. Everything tasted pretty good! I enjoyed the chicken salad and veggies. The Pasta was a little on the hard side for me.
I liked that the ham and cheese croissant also came with home style tables which had half sweet potato and half regular potato.
Overall nice spot to meet up with someone or work at, lots of options for eating...
