As soon as you step into Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, you're hit—no, hugged—by the intoxicating aroma of freshly made waffle cones and sugary goodness. It’s like walking into a dessert dream. The air is thick with nostalgia, the kind that instantly transports you to carefree summer days and childhood joy.
I ordered the waffle cone bowl with two scoops: Darkest Chocolate and Salty Caramel and let me tell you, this duo is nothing short of divine. The Darkest Chocolate is no ordinary chocolate. It’s rich, bold, and almost sinful in its depth, think melted chocolate bars and midnight cocoa stirred into velvet. The texture? Silky and dense, like a frozen truffle that melts on your tongue with a whisper of bitterness that balances the sweet.
Now the Salty Caramel, this was the real surprise. Buttery, golden, and complex, it hits your palate in waves: first sweet and creamy, then a punch of sea salt that makes your taste buds sit up and pay attention. The caramel is clearly slow-cooked, giving it that deep, toasty flavor with hints of vanilla and brown sugar.
The waffle cone bowl was warm, crisp, and laced with cinnamon, adding just the right crunch to contrast the creaminess. The combination of hot and cold, sweet and salty, smooth and crisp was perfect. Every bite was a revelation, and I found myself closing my eyes just to savor the moment.
My personal takeaway? If you’re looking for more than dessert, if you want an experience this is the place. Do yourself a favor and get the waffle cone bowl. And don’t be afraid to mix bold flavors. Trust me, your inner child (and your adult self)...
Read moreThe ice cream here was decent overall, though I can’t say the flavors I tried really stood out. They were pleasant enough, but fairly ordinary, nothing that made me stop and think “wow.” The texture and taste reminded me a bit of something you might find in a grocery store rather than a small-batch or homemade style. That makes me curious whether they produce their ice cream in-house or if it’s sourced from a larger supplier.
That being said, the shop itself had a nice atmosphere, and the service was friendly, which makes me want to give it another chance. Sometimes it just comes down to picking the right flavor, and they do have quite a variety on the menu. I plan to go back and sample a few others before making up my mind completely. Who knows, maybe I just didn’t hit on their best offerings the first time around.
Overall, I’d call it an average experience so far, but with potential. If the other flavors turn out better, it could be a place worth...
Read moreI believe this is by far the best ice cream I have ever had! Creamy and delicious. I have to make it a point to go to Jeni's when ever I am at the mall. The smell of the waffle cones alone will make you go in the store just to get an ever deeper wiff! They make their own waffle cones and bowls and they are amazing! I have been there several times and have brought several people with me and everyone thinks it is awesome. Every time I have been there I have been waited on by the same lovely young woman, named Cora. I think she actually is making up these recipes because she seems to know every ingredient in every flavor they carry! When I told her one day that I had a taste for Lemon, she gave me Atlantic Beach Pie (my #1 contender!), she always seems to know what it is that I have a taste for. Don't mind paying the higher price for quality AND Service! Good Job, Cora! I hope to see this little ice cream shop stick around for a long...
