I recently had the chance to take menu photos at MORA in Oak Park, and the experience was nothing short of fantastic.

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was super chill—relaxed yet stylish, with beautiful art pieces all around that made the space feel warm and inviting. I arrived around 2 PM, a quieter time, and the staff immediately made me feel welcome.

I was running on low energy, so I asked for a tea. The waiter didn’t just bring me a tea—he crafted me an absolutely incredible blend that woke me right up and had me ready for the shoot. That small gesture set the tone for the whole visit.

Service was spot on—friendly, attentive, and fast. The food came out surprisingly quickly without compromising on presentation or quality. Every plate looked like a piece of art, which made photographing them a joy.

And the flavors? Amazing. From the sushi rolls to the hot dishes, everything was fresh, balanced, and beautifully plated. The vibrant garnishes (including fresh flowers!) added a touch of elegance.

Mora has a great corner location in Oak Park's "art district" and benefits from this layout with two distinct dining rooms flanking a stately bar area. The menu has sharable hot dishes like the gyoza and cold dishes like the maki rolls, as well as singular dishes like the Adobo fried rice (although you could certainly share those as well). They have some fun signature sushi rolls, as well as some more "classic" rolls like the negi hamachi (scallions and yellowtail fish), along with some vegetarian/non-fish rolls like the avocado roll. They also have an extensive drink menu that features wine, beer, sake, cocktails, and liquor along with soft drinks like sodas and mango-lemonades. We were given free refills on the soft drink, and an "extra pour" on the wine. Our server Tony was friendly, generous and attentive -- what more can you ask for?! When looking up "MORA", I found there's a similar menu, and maybe "sister location" in Plainfield, IL, that has ramen...so I only wish that was on the menu here as well.
