Excellence under pressure
In the Chicago-land area there are thousands upon thousands of places you can reserve for a rehearsal dinner. Actually, you can go crazy just trying to narrow the list down to a manageable number. Our requirements were not that unique. We wanted to be at the halfway point between the suburbs and downtown Chicago. We were trying to keep the number to less than 50 people. There were going to be about 9 – 12 young children. We also wanted it to be a casual environment so that the wedding party and new families could get to know each other. Since we had a large group coming from out of state we also wanted a “Chicago Experience”. We wanted a pizza restaurant that offered Chicago style deep dish pizza along with thin crust. We decided on Giordano’s of Oakbrook.
Our experience with the restaurant was outstanding. This was our first “Rehearsal Dinner” experience. We spoke with Tiffany the Banquet Manager, and she took her time walking us through all of the options. Her calm and assuring demeanor helped reduce our stress of hosting the event. They could offer us a private area and a wide selection of pizza and beverages. Now if you are from the area you already know that Giordano’s is one of the best pizzas in the area. But what really makes Giordano’s of Oakbrook stand out is the service. The entire staff were amazing. They were able to handle last minute additions to our headcount with ease. Pizzas were delivered hot along with a fresh salad and cold beverages. The staff monitored everything so we never ran out of anything. We can not say enough about Tiffany and the great staff at the Giordano’s of Oakbrook. Thanks again for making our...
Read moreOverall Rating: 3.9/10 This establishment offers a visually appealing setting with professional staff and spacious outdoor seating, but the dining experience is marred by slow service and underwhelming pizza. This being a pizza place and the pizza being very underwhelming, this gets a lower score.
Atmosphere: 7.5/10 The restaurant presents an inviting appearance with a large layout and attractive outdoor seating. The staff's professional demeanor adds to the establishment's welcoming ambiance, setting a positive initial impression.
Service: 3.2/10 Service efficiency was notably lacking during the visit, with an excessively long wait time to order and receive food. Multiple staff members were involved, which may have contributed to the disjointed service. The frequent ringing of phones further distracted from the dining experience, and the lengthy preparation time for a small personal deep dish pizza was particularly disappointing.
Food:
Parmesan Fries: 6.3/10 The fries were a highlight, being perfectly crispy and well-seasoned with a generous amount of Parmesan, delivering a satisfying taste.
Deep Dish Cheese Pizza: 3.3/10 This dish fell short of expectations. The pizza was poorly prepared, with uncut portions making it difficult to serve. The sauce and crust were mediocre, with a not so great aftertaste. Overall, the pizza lacked flavor, detracting significantly from the meal.
Value: 4.5/10 The lunch special, which included a small personal deep dish pizza and a side, did not provide satisfactory value. The quality of the pizza and the extensive wait time diminished the worth of the meal, making it feel like a...
Read moreI visited this location a week ago today in the evening for dinner. My husband, son, and I traveled to Oakbrook Terrace for vacation and we knew heading into downtown area would probably be busier and a lot more traffic which we were glad this location was about eight minutes from our hotel. When we arrived it looked very nice on the inside and we met three other guests who were with us. We were seated quickly and also given a high chair for my son. When our full party arrived we placed our order, the waiter gave me an odd look when I asked for gluten free noodles after calling earlier to review gluten free options. This did not give me high hopes. Everyone else ordered the cheesy garlic bread, a thin crust meat lovers, and a deep dish meat lovers. Now I am aware it takes a while to cook a deep dish pizza, however they messed up the order and made two thin crust pizzas and did not start the deep dish. At this point we waited for quite a while and they forgot the appetizer. The bread was brought out and it was extremely greasy and everyone else explained it was average and nothing special. The guys that ordered the deep dish opted to wait until they made the correct order. My meal was terrible and I have had a lot of gluten free meals including pasta dishes. The noodles were not cooked and still hard. I didn't even end up finishing. Our server also rarely checked on us and never asked how the food tasted. My husband said his thin crust was okay but we were not impressed for the price and we thought the food would be above and beyond. I do not plan on going back the next time we visit the area as we live about...
