This is my first visit to this restaurant since its name change and new management. I used to go there for the lunch time buffet in the before times. I look forward to when the buffet opens back up so I can OK – this place is not the Taj Mahal, but it is clean and pleasant inside. We had tandoori fish, palak paneer, rice, regular naan, and chai. The dining experience was excellent in all respects. The staff and manager were courteous, warm and welcoming. The proprietor even chatted with us and answered questions about the menu – very friendly. The food was also excellent. I was very surprised at both the quality of the fish for the tandoori. It took 25 minutes, just like the waiter said. The owner suggested calling it in ahead of time so it can be ready upon arrival. Good tip. The fish was a flaky white fish that fell off the bone and melted in the mouth. The crust was nicely spiced, and these spices suffused the fish. The palak paneer was also prepared more than competently. I have had palak paneers in my life that were flavorless and swimming in oil. This was not one of those. The spinach was properly spiced and fresh tasting, and the paneer cubes were delightfully toothy. I was even surprised by a delicious cup of chai – boldly spiced and freshly prepared. I will definitely be back. I cannot wait for the buffet hopefully coming in the next few months. Giving it 4 stars because of course this is not the best possible food of this sort, but it is very tasty. I have had better, but probably not at this price point. For the price you pay, you will definitely be satisfied with...
Read moreI've had their food a couple times since they're so close to the 12th St BART station and their food is so good. The other day I ordered the Char Gosht (lamb cooked with pickled spices and herbs), Goat Karahi (sautéed with tomatoes, ginger & other spices), vegetable momo (dumplings), and the vegetetable samosa with plenty of garlic and regular naan. I ordered it on an app and when I got to the restaurant to pick it up the man was super nice! He said he had tried to call my number because he was out of the vegetable momo, but he had substituted the chicken momo instead. I was super happy to hear about this and it was totally worth it. The naan was so good and the spice levels were just right. Even the sauces that came with the momo were great and I tried each one of them.
There were a couple of bones in the karahi, but the meat was so tender that I could push it out with a spoon and it was so good. The portion was enough to have leftovers as well so I ate some for lunch the next day and finished it all off. I would say that having two orders of naan per each dish is just the right amount. I'm definitely going to order from them again the next time I have a...
Read moreBarely average Indian fare. Maybe it's good for the buffet during the day but I doubt it. Got the Aloo palak and Aloo Gobi. Both seemed canned. The Naan was fine, though it's hard to mess that up. The Samosas were OK at 2 bucks each, the Chicken Tikka Masala was just the worst I have ever had. I wish I wasn't so hungry when I got there, I would have eaten a lot less of the slop. They had something that looked like Afghani tea but really was just brown milky lukewarm water. It was reasonably priced (for the bay area) so I'm giving it two stars, barely. every table had several huge cards noting their new location in San Francisco which maybe meant they were going to abandon that dump because It looked condemned. Also I guess they had no heat because it was about 55 degrees in there. The worst part though was that when I closed the bathroom door the top of the soap dispenser popped off and landed in the sink. I soon found out it was broken and had to dip my hand in the liquid to wash. Oh yeah, and I woke up at 2 in the morning feeling sick. Good times! I...
