PINTOH took over Adam's Mediterranean offering thai street food. Minimal decor with no structural changes. It's run by a couple from SF along with a five week old baby. What makes them a standout from it's surrounding competition is a recipe from a friend of theirs. This chef hails from San Diego in town to help family settled in with restaurant operations. Service is good and attentive never left me out of the loop. Checking be on me making sure everything was ok. As for the food, it went very well. Started my evening with a small bowl of Tom Kha Chicken soup. Tasty and hot with plenty of mushroom buttons floating. Next up was Khao Soi with chicken. Not a first timer on this, but know what to expect. Nice presentation with a clump of crunchy noodle in center surrounded by broth. Only gripe was the noodle, said to be crunchy, but it was a little on softer side. Didn't let that deter me from not eating and went on to finished it. Of course, you'll need a drink to wash it down. Since I'm already at a thai restaurant why not go for iced thai tea? Owner A.K made in per order and brought it over himself. Told me it was on the house. Wow!!! Now that's how you impressed your patrons on your day...
Read moreSo glad I finally came by today for a late lunch (2PM) - cool place (love the decor/style), nice staff & tasty food. Some dishes you will not find in the average Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. For example, the chef or owner is from northern Thailand so the menu features a top Northern Thai dish - Kao Soi noodle soup (beef or chicken), or the all time fav 'street food' grilled pork skewers (moo ping) served with sticky rice (ck out the menu on their website).
I had the Pad Kemao Chicken (menu says beef but they are happy to make dishes with what you like & even have Beyond Meat dishes on the menu - cool to see stir fried basil with Beyond Meat (Krapao Beyond Neur). The taste of my wok fried pad kemao was delicious, same or better than any I've had on prior trips to Bangkok. Glad to have discovered a solid Thai restaurant that doesn't have watered down flavors (adapted for non-Thais). Good to see they have a lot of gluten free and vegan choices on the menu too. Definitely will be back, keep up...
Read moreMy wife and I tried this place on a Wednesday evening. We were the only patrons. The service was fine.
We ordered the Thai Salad, Tom Kha chicken soup, and Gai Himmaparn, which is crispy chicken with vegetables and cashews.
The salad was very simple: iceberg lettuce, beefsteak tomato quartered, cucumber slices, red onions, bean sprouts, and tofu. And a dollop of peanut sauce in the center. Not much for the price, and everything is awkwardly large, making it difficult to eat with chopsticks. The only other utensils at the table were tablespoons.
The soup was tasty, with a nice slow spice burn. But they provided no ladle, making it awkward to serve it.
The entree was decent, though strangely the serving spoon provided with it was tiny. A long drink-stirring spoon. The rice wasn't sticky enough to eat easily with chopsticks.
The green tea was a teabag in your mug. The Thai iced coffee with coconut milk was nice.
It didn't impress us, and the smell of drying paint...
