I’ve been in Oakland for weeks, exploring all the local halal eateries, and nothing compares to the incredible flavors at Biryani Tika Kabab (برياني تكا كباب حلال) on 14th Street. If you’re craving genuinely authentic Pakistani cuisine, look no further—this place is an absolute gem! First off, the food here is outstanding. I ordered the biryani and chicken makhni, requesting a spicy kick, and both dishes exceeded my expectations. The biryani was perfectly cooked, aromatic, and flavorful, each bite delivering an authentic taste that immediately reminded me of home. The chicken makhni was beautifully spiced, rich, and creamy, with just the right amount of heat. Every dish felt freshly prepared, bursting with authentic spices, and balanced perfectly in terms of flavor and texture. Beyond the food, what truly made the experience special was the warm welcome and friendly atmosphere. The host, currently preparing for the USMLE, was incredibly personable and attentive, ensuring we were comfortable and satisfied throughout our meal. The place itself is impressively clean, adding to the overall pleasant dining experience. Having tried numerous halal restaurants around town during my stay, I confidently say that nothing else matches the quality and taste found here. The authenticity is evident from the first bite, reflecting genuine Pakistani culinary traditions. Whether you’re a local resident or just passing through, Biryani Tika Kabab is a must-visit. It stands out not only for its superb taste but also for its hospitality and cleanliness. This is unquestionably my top recommendation in Oakland for anyone seeking delicious, halal Pakistani food. Trust me—you’ll leave delighted and eager to return!

Called and Mr Adnan and Afzal they took the order over the phone ask to add little cilantro and they took care of it . Biryani Tika Kabab , incorporating elements of a great biryani experience: Aromatic Excellence: Kabob and Biryani's Chicken Biryani Stepping into Kabob and Biryani, the intoxicating aroma of spices is the first promise of a culinary journey, and their Chicken Biryani delivers on that promise beautifully. This isn't just a dish; it's an experience. The basmati rice, the backbone of any good biryani, is cooked to perfection – each grain separate, fluffy, and infused with the subtle golden hue of saffron and rich spices. It's evident they take pride in the quality of their rice. But what truly elevates this biryani is the chicken. Tender, succulent pieces of chicken are generously layered within the rice, having absorbed the complex flavors of the masala. The meat isn't dry or stringy, but rather falls apart with ease, indicating a slow, careful cooking process. The spice level is wonderfully balanced; it has a comforting warmth that lingers on the palate without overwhelming the delicate nuances of the other ingredients. You can taste the freshness of the herbs and the depth of the aromatic spices. Served with a cooling raita on the side, it's the perfect accompaniment to cut through the richness and add a refreshing contrast. The portion size is also quite generous, making it a satisfying meal. Whether you're a biryani connoisseur or simply looking for a truly flavorful and authentic Pakistani dish, Kabob and Biryani's Chicken Biryani is a must-try. It's a testament to the art of biryani making, leaving you with a desire to return for more.

4.5 stars. Excellent food, owner takes a little time warming up to you. We came here on a federal holiday evening so parking was quite easy to get (street parking only). Got seated immediately. This is our first time and we were visiting from out of the bay, so we asked what he recommended and he curtly said, "read the menu!" We ended up ordering the goat and the chicken biryanis and the prawn karahi with a garlic naan and some tea to end the meal with. They were nice enough to tell us that the food will take time. Turns out that preparation really helps as we were pleasantly surprised when the food came out quicker than anticipated. The biryanis were excellent! Good spice level, separated and colorful rice, well-cooked chicken and goat meat. Both biryanis had a homemade effect to them, which I absolutely adored!! The prawn karahi was more oily than I appreciate but the flavor and spice level was excellent! I would still recommend doing chicken or goat/lamb for the karahi, the prawns don't exactly fit with the karahi concept. With the garlic naan, the karahi was super yummy! The tea was ok but I like a certain kind of tea, which pretty much no one except my mother and I make, so I wasn't surprised. Quantities were decent. Definitely lasting the two of us for two meals. All in all, I was very happy with the food with the exception of the oil in the karahi. The owner did warm up to us through the course of our meal and we left on really good terms. Will definitely recommend them to whoever goes to Oakland.

Positives: Good and Fresh tasting food. We ordered chicken kababs, karahi, biryani. Very good. Excellent Karahi. Very authentic. People who are not use to this should try somewhere else. This is not your typical ready-made South Asian food. You need to have a taste for it.

Negatives:

  1. water taste was very bad. It was one of the worst tap water I ever had in my life. Both my wife and I felt the same.
  2. Both women and men's restroom did not have soap
  3. Indoor temperature was very cold. Everyone in the restaurant still had their jackets on. It was a cold night so indoor temp to maybe 70F would have been good. The indoor temp was definitely under 70F. It is a little uncomfortable to be eating South Asian food with jackets on.
  4. When we entered, we felt unwelcomed. The person did not care as much and was not in a good mood.
  5. Chairs were a bit uncomfortable - this is not a big deal but when food takes 40 minutes to come (I don't mind the wait because this means the food is being prepared fresh) so making the seats more comfy would help a lot.
  6. We came from a different state, so was not 100% sure if parking after 6 p.m. is still enforced or not. We arrived after 6 p.m. and I parked my car on the street. Just to be on the safe side, I wanted to confirm with the person if I understood correctly if parking after 6 p.m. is free. The person said it is not free and I had to go and feed the meter. Luckily, I went back and re-read the message on the parking meter that it is indeed free after 6 p.m. but this kind of misguidance is not good. Anyone working in the restaurant especially on the front-line should know about the parking situation in case a customer has a doubt.

The reason I am still giving 4 stars because the 6 negatives are minor and can be fixed very easily. No place is 100% perfect, and having a couple of negatives should be ignored by the customer as restaurant business is a hard one. However, the hardest part is making good food and they have a good handle on that. Simple things like doing one-time upgrade of seats or having soap in the restrooms, and having proper friendly wait staff would make this place an excellent place to dine in. Overall I would greatly...
