Not a good experience here. We came with a group of 7 and two of our party have meat allergies and one is vegan. First off, there were almost no options that were vegetarian/vegan friendly to start, and then when we put in our orders and were assured by our waitress that there was no meat or cheese in the orders for those people, when we got the food we were very unpleasantly surprised to find that the cooked vegetables had cheese on them and the red beans and rice actually had HOT DOG in it, even though the waitress had clearly said there wouldn’t be any meat in there and it was not stated on the menu. Our vegan friend did not know and inadvertently had a bite of the hot dog, which was the first piece of meat she had had in 8 years and strongly went against her personal values. Thankfully she didn’t have the meat allergy, but it just as easily could have been and we would have had a very different outcome. This is very dangerous and inconsiderate to not state the ingredients on the menu that are potential allergens such as this and for the staff to claim they know and then be clearly wrong. This was very frustrating. Also, on a totally different note, the chicken salad had a strong emphasis on chicken, so don’t be expecting much lettuce. It was not good in my opinion, and don’t feel great post-meal. To their credit the staff did take the $6 meal off the tab (but didn’t take off the $3 fries that went with it??) but I guess at least they tried and seemed at least a little apologetic. The fried pickles and waffle fries were pretty good though so that was a small redeeming factor. Overall, would not add this to my list of delicious restaurants to go back to, but I highly recommend that they add ingredients to the menu for the safety of their customers and that staff make sure of the content of dishes they are serving and don’t just guess on...
Read moreWent on a Friday night, and while it wasn’t too busy, the service made it feel like we were invisible. Our server took our drink order quickly, but then we sat there for almost 30 minutes before they came back—definitely a sign of how the rest of the night would go. We had to hunt someone down every time we needed something—napkins, refills, extra ranch—you name it.
For food, we started with the fried pickles, then got the Cuban sandwich and the fajita platter. We also ordered a Shirley Temple, but it was so watered down it tasted like fizzy tap water—no hint of grenadine or Sprite at all.
The fajita platter was disappointing—the chicken was overcooked and lacked flavor, so we had to drench it in Cajun ranch just to make it enjoyable. The fried pickles were a letdown too—way too salty and over-seasoned, plus they were more soggy than crispy. A few had a good crunch, but they were tiny, almost like crumbs.
The one saving grace? The Cuban sandwich. It had a great balance of meat and flavor, definitely the best thing we had all night.
Between the hit-or-miss food and frustrating service, I’m not sure I’d return to this location. It wasn’t the worst experience, but it wasn’t...
Read moreVisiting family in the area and spent the morning at a local state park. It was lunch time at the end of our park visit, and we mulled over where to eat. Chose this place over everything else listed on Google Maps because it was unique, the menu showed variety, and pictures of the restaurant looked inviting and interesting. Join arrival we were promptly greeted by welcoming signage that indicated we were going to be treated like family. The 1950s-60s Rock 'N Roll theme wasn't too blaring, and the music volume was tolerable for even the youngest of ears. Colors were vibrant, and some of the art on the walls and ceiling made me laugh out loud. Our server, Kiki, was pleasant. She made sure evenly was taken care of. She had a very pleasant and welcoming attitude, and was quick with the refills. She even had a fantastic recommendation regarding my plate. Food was quick to arrive. The flavors and originality of this place makes me sad this will likely be the only time I ever get to visit the place, as I go back to the west coast very soon. You will not be disappointed. Give this place a try, and ask that Kiki be...
