Anthony's Liquors — Restaurant in Ocean City

Would have given this place a higher rating if it we're not for my debit card being intentionally charged for more than my purchase. At checkout, I was asked by the clerk if I wanted a receipt. Unknowingly, I declined to receive one. The next day I happened to look at my bank statement and found that I was charged $37.53 for what should have been a $12.00 purchase. I was staying at the nearby Hilton so I went back to the store to confront them of what I had just found. I was met with an excuse that the transaction must not have been closed out and carried over into the next for which I must have been charged for as well. I have never had this happen and recognize that it was an attempt to cover up someone's I'll ententions. I was given the difference of the charge and my purchase in cash from the register. By their body language and perona it seemed as if this was a regular scheme practiced on non-locals. Known for their deli section and specialty subs, and extensive selection of craft beer and spirits, you might be surprised to learn they have a small attached bar easily accessible off the sidewalk of coastal highway. This is where the fun really starts. Take a break from the beach to “get your family lunch”, order your food at the deli and then grab a drink or two while you wait. Maybe three? Walked in picked out a bottle for $20, then lined up for the cashier. When he scanned the bottle, I explained I wanted to use my debit card. He said whatever and I stuck my card in the chip slot. The amount changed to $25. I said I want to do debit, he said it's approved you can take your card out. I asked for a refund since I thought a $5 fee was to much for me. He said no refunds. So I left.

Sad because we read all these great reviews here. As a Google local guide, I take reviews seriously. I'm suspicious that all these reviews are real. Many compliment the store on its great selections. Actually the store is very small and cramped. I found the liquor prices about 10 per cent higher than normal and the selection very basic.
