Learn moreI had a terrible experience at Laytons today. I arrived at 10am and was first met with a rude and hostile hostess who gave me attitude when I was asking about wait time. She then told me it would be a 35 minute wait. My group and I proceeded to wait for over an hour outside with no seating and after asking multiple times on updates on when we were going to get seated we were told that we were next up only for this next up to never arrive. After talking to the second hostess she said that the other hostess had already skipped over us for our table and said she had thought sat us already. So after we finally got a seat at our table it was not the right size for our party and pushed me to the edge of the table with little to no room. After the waitress took our order she gave one of my friends attitude when trying to alter her meals and take off a meat. It then took another hour to get our food and we did not get our food until 12:20 keep in mind we arrived at 10am. The food was subpar at best I got the Westmans meal and the eggs, hash browns, and toast was all average and could've been done at home for $20 cheaper. The crab cake that came along with it was not crab cake but almost all filler and bread with no seasoning just bland. The pancakes were hard as a rock with soggy waffles. The bathroom situation was even worse the stall door would not shut and even worse would not lock I was walked in on. Then this sink in the bathroom was the worst design for a sink I've ever seen. I turned it on and splashed me all over my shirt with no warning. The hostess at this restaurant really need to pick up their game they were openly fighting and arguing in front of multiple customers because of their poor and lack of communication. Overall I believe this restaurant is based solely on hype and crowds not on food ambiance or service because all were below par. If I could give this place negative stars I would be cause they made me feel like a negative person. 0/10 would...
Read moreNot the cleanest place that was the first turn off. When we sat at our table there were still crumbs on the table and food under the table. Then the ledges near the window were not clean and the curtains were dusty. Like an inch worth of dust.. The ledge behind the headboard where our booth was had loose hair. Yuck!. They were asked to clean this before we sat down. It doesn’t make for comfortable eating. Food took forever to come! Slowest breakfast service I’ve ever had. The worst part of it all is that they bought me out my food on a dirty plate!! It still had red sticky stuff on it around the sides. The waitress took it back with no problem but took forever bringing me out a new plate. Food was lukewarm at this point. Food was just okay. Pancakes looked nothing like the instagram photos. They didn’t get our order right! They forgot sausage for one order, cheese for another. I had to ask for warm syrup twice. The waitress never came back to check on us so we couldnt even tell her what was wrong. We saw her three times, when she bought our food and when she took the order and when she came back with the check. She basically ignored us. I understand when it's busy but don't leave paying customers ignored. And if you can't handle it being busy do not take so many customers at once. Some of the other places visited in Ocean City MD were more busy than this and still was more attentive. They need to clean this place. They take no care in anything inside. Maybe I would have done better sitting outside. Lastly for the waiting list, they make you sit outside in the hot Sun and wait with very little seating area to do so. A negative if you are traveling with older adults. Most restaurants have a texting system, where they will text you when your table is ready so at least you can sit the car or something but this one you don't have that option you just have to wait until they call your table. Wont be back. Do not recommend....
Read moreUPDATE We were in town for another long weekend. This time Layton's was not as good as last time. We sat immediately and our order was taken quickly but that's where the good stopped. I ordered a large fresh squeezed orange juice and when it came out it was 8oz of juice. I asked the waitress if she brought me the large and she said yes that's the large. It was $6 for 8oz of juice and it had seeds in it. You can see the picture of the tiny juice in my hand. I alsoI understand fresh squeezed but seeds should not be in the juice. Additionally, the drinks had tops on them and the waitress dropped them off and went to walk away after my question about the size and I asked how are we supposed to drink the drinks? She then grabbed 3 straws and put them on the table.
Our order was French toast, western omelet, toasted bagel and a side bacon and rye toast. I'm not exaggerating but it took 20 minutes to get our food. The restaurant wasn't busy either. My kids were asking where's our food.
Then we get the food. The side of rye was burnt so I ate those and gave my son my pieces which weren't burnt. My omelet was so greasy from the filling of ham, onions and peppers I couldn't eat the filling. I ate the eggs which weren't seasoned at all and left 50% of the ham, peppers and onions. I told the waitress it was greasy and unappetizing. Just very disappointing.
Original Review Nice local spot that can get crowded in the summer months. We came on Mother's Day and were surprised it wasn't too busy as we sat right away. The service was great and the food was better. We couldn't have asked for a more satisfying...
