My family and I had dinner here last night and I will say the food was good, the views were great but the atmosphere was lackluster. I saw that Toast had opened up in Ocean City and we had not heard of it but were interested in trying a new "pizza" place. Upon arrival it wasn't what I expected. The outside looked beautiful by the bay but no one was sitting out there. We walked upstairs to the dinning area and saw the place was empty aside from one table outside and the small bar being filled. We were sat right away at the table of our choice. We chose a table by the window with views of the bay which I recommend. The service was impeccable by the way. I really want to get that out there. The menu is small but has a good amount of items to choose from. I was confused that the menus called Toast Waterfront Dining and Dockside Tiki Bar. Really it seems like they are searching for their identity. The food is clearly Italian and I thought Toast was inreference to the pizza but is related to toasting glasses. We ordered 2 of the meatball appetizers, and the calamari for starters. The meatballs are fantastic with the sauce. I wish it came with a small portion of bread to soak up the sauce as that sauce is fantastic. The calamari I was less excited about. It was overcooked/fried and had a lack of flavor. I wouldn't recommend the calamari but will double down on the meatballs. For our meals we had the cheese pizza, the Chicken Tenders with fries (for the kids) and chicken parm with side of pasta. The entrées were fantastic. The chicken parm and side pasta was fantastic. There is an option for veal and I wish I could have tried that as well. The pizza crust was very good along with the rest of the pizza. The kids liked the chicken tenders and thin shoestring fries. To touch upon the atmosphere I wish there was some sort of theme inside the restaurant. It had a bar feel when you walked in as only people were sitting at the bar. There was also music playing but it was covers of pop music which seemed out of place for a restaurant. I saw one drawing that looked like NYC but it would be great to see more decorations related to the restaurant. I want them to embrace the pizza, embrace NYC but utilize their dockside location. The food and service was great but I wish the atmosphere matched. Takeout recommended and dining there if you are already downtown or headed to...
Read moreNew review. Two stars only for bartenders and location (which are 4 stars) balancing out the other misery! If you missed the Toast before the new owners took over, ignore what I wrote before. New owners, upped prices, removed favorites from hh menu. Pizza is dry and overcooked. Wannabe but not (waitress)Manager is surly to employees who are trying to work with what they have been given but is making plenty mistakes on her own. Broken shades at the bar almost knocked someone out last time I was here. Instead of comping the check, which was one drink and a little food, they said ,”Can I buy you a drink or something?”Back to being the corner of going out of business if this continues. How hard is it to fill up the cheese? Ran out of oranges for crushes at 3:30 on a Sunday. Back to being disappointed!! The posted pics are from today. Shades still broken after 3 weeks and look at the beautiful view of rusty chairs, useless wood, and a broken ice machine. As a side note, the surly manager wanna be just reached over my shoulder to grab mustard from my condiment tray because another dissatisfied customer was not given the proper set up. Rocky and Rosa are great, but they are doomed if the owner doesn’t get it figured out. Not sure how deep the pockets go, but it is operating like there was is nothing but wishful thinking. Finally, owner was here last time and barking orders, but doing nothing to help. Note - they just ran out of grapefruit even though someone went to the store and got oranges! Ignore the remainder of those post, which is my old review After years of disappointment at this property, Toast has finally turned it in to a great spot to go. The happy hour food is maybe the best you will find in OC. Thank you Toast for giving us another great spot to enjoy! The eggplant tower is probably the best eggplant I’ve had out since my Grandmother passed. I will...
Read moreI’m quite disappointed with Toast tonight. I always make it a point to stop by after spending all day At Assateague Island.
When I arrived at Toast I walked in and wasn’t greeted. The waitress was in the back in the kitchen laughing and carrying on. I stood there for maybe 10-15 minutes and NO one came to greet us. Finally, as more people came into the restaurant they were seating people.
When I was seated, the waitress asked what drinks we were having. Everyone told her what we wanted and returned 15 minutes later with our drinks. When she finally returned to our table she took our order and never came back except to drop off our food.
While I was waiting for my food to be cooked a group of guys was in there yelling. They acted drunk. About 20 minutes later 5 girls walk in and these guys were being flirty and we're sitting on these girls taking pictures. They all acted desperate. Which is pathetic. Between these 2 groups of people, you couldn’t hear a word from anyone at my table. The staff did NOTHING about it. There were 2 other families in there with young children and the staff did nothing. Our waitress was going along with these people. She only went to the guys and the girls acting loud. I couldn’t believe it. I’m so disappointed. I would love to come back but...
